Lakshmi Chaudhry
Lakshmi Chaudhry has been a reporter and an editor for independent publications for more than six years, and is a senior editor at In These Times, where she covers the cross-section of culture and politics.![]()
From February 2002 to June 2005 Chaudhry was a Senior Editor at AlterNet.org, where she coordinated all aspects of the online magazine’s coverage of the Iraq war and the 2004 elections. The site received two successive Webby awards during Chaudhry’s tenure: Best Political News site and Best Online Magazine in the “Prints and Zines” category. Before joining Alternet.org, Chaudhry was a freelance writer, contributing articles to a variety of publications, including Ms., Village Voice, Mother Jones, Bitch, Salon.com and the San Jose Mercury News.
Chaudhry was also a staff writer at Wired News from 1999 to 2000, covering issues related to the culture and politics of technology and an Editorial Fellow at Mother Jones in 1999.
Chaudhry is co-author of Five Biggest Lies Bush Told Us about Iraq and Start Making Sense: Turning the lessons of Election 2004 into Winning Progressive Politics.
Chaudhry graduated cum laude from Mount Holyoke College in 1990 with a BA in Political Science. She earned her M.A. in International Relations from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University.
