Article Submissions

Please use this form to submit articles for publication in In These Times. An editor will review all submissions and contact authors directly if we are interested in working with you. Please note that due to the large amount of submissions we receive, we cannot respond personally to all queries.

Features

We are looking for feature articles that combine original on-the-ground reporting with solid analysis. We are particularly interested in investigative stories that uncover governmental or corporate abuses of power. Feature articles run between 1,000 and 2,000 words in length. Please do not submit articles longer than the maximum word length.

News

The magazine also has a front-of-the-book news section where we publish 500- to 1000-word shorts that are news-driven and have a time peg. We are particularly interested in stories that have received little or no attention in the mainstream press.

Culture

In our culture section, we publish 750 to 1,400-word book reviews, 750-word music, film and TV reviews, and a 1,000- to 1,400-word backpage essay that comments upon or finds humor in some dimension of contemporary life. We usually review books that are less than two months old.
