Pretty Effective in Pink

By Jessica Clark

Organizers from Code Pink: Women for Peace were vibrantly visible during counter-convention activities in New York. Members handed out pink and white “Peaceful New York Police” buttons to bemused cops, sported pig snouts and feather boas for a “Halllibacon” demo and raised a rose-tinted ruckus at a FOX News Shut-up-a-thon. Not just in it for laughs, group members took their objectionsreturn to article

What amases me me is not the ingenuity of the Code Pink women, but the brainless attack of this poster “York.”  I suppose he or she spends their time goosestepping through their town, heiling their fuhrer George, and wiping their ass with a copy of the U.S. Constitution.  The Code Pink women should all receive medals of honor for facing the enemy head on.  Cudos, Ladies!

Since Mr. York seems to forget about civil liberties and would like to beat up women….I have this to say. Please come to my town, heck email me and I’ll pick you up at DIA so I can beat your ass. Actualy since you like women getting beat up send your mom. I can’t believe the stupidity of some people.

Way to GO Code Pink you ladies rock….keep up the hard work

Hummm.  Let’s see.  Hitler invaded Poland.  Bush invaded Iraq.  Hitler hid in a bunker.  Bush hid in a bunker.  Hitler lied to the people of Germeny.  Bush lied to the people of the United States of America.  Hitler won an election.  Bush - uh oh, the Supreme Court appointed Bush.  I guess Bush isn’t a nazi after all.  My bad.

I think it’s hilarious that the only time neo-cons claim the right to free speech is when they are hurling insults or lies.  York is probably too busy trying to figure out what assualt weapon Jesus would use, then actually take the time to read a document like the U.S. Constitution.  Or maybe he’s just too busy beating on women.

United States Posted by Bill Talkington Jr on Sep 17, 2004 at 6:49 PM

York is living proof that women need to control their reproductive rights.  Too bad his mother didn’t abort him when she had the chance!

United States Posted by Bill Talkington Jr on Sep 17, 2004 at 8:30 PM

And one more thing;  York is correct in saying that the republican party is not an open forum.  The GOP is more akin to a Klan meeting or a good old fashioned Bundt meeting.

It’s easy to see just how frightened they are when they send rats like York to do their dirty work.  I learned a long time ago to never corner a rat.

P.S.  The word “republican” does not appear in the U.S. Constitution.  “Freedom of Speech” does.

Bill, I’m gonna go out on a limb here and wager that you’ve never done well at tests gauging reading comprehension. Because Bill, I in fact did not say that the Republican party is not an open forum. What I DID say, if you’d like to go back and reread it, is that the REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION, was not an open forum. And it wasn’t. Nor SHOULD it be, sir, anymore the the Democratic National Convention, was an open forum. Bill, would this be a prime example of the fabled liberal “nuance” we’ve heard so much about?

As for your Klan comment, suppose you establish for me, with facts not obtained by Dan Rather, exactly how you’ve come to the conclusion that the RNC was akin to a Klan meeting. Does the fact that George W. Bush has appointed noticeably more black Americans to very high positions in his cabinet than any Democrat ever did support your conclusion? Make you case, and support your assertion, you clueless maggot.

United States Posted by York on Sep 17, 2004 at 9:20 PM

    you misunderstood me mr. york.

Of course the Republicans have the right to free speech but that ladies rights were violated when she was took into a back room and beaten. If she had been arrestted & detained fine but it was more than that.(looks like I understand my rights)

Therefore I believe your the idiot for not listening to a simple statement a 4year old could understand.

As far as your attack on my manhood LOL at least I don’t get off by having mothers “beaten to a bloody pulp” thats wrong no matter who or where you are.

So I have just 2 questions I hope you can understand it’s pretty simple after all.

If you feel so strongly about this war why don’t you enlist and volunteer to go over their?

Thats what you should do to show true support for your president since you feel he is so right and we are all so wrong.

    My 2nd question is this
If you feel that I am so limp wristed why don’t you take me up on my offer?
Or are you afraid I might actually fufill my promise

If your not afraid I’d be happy to to meet you or if you learn to talk like an adult or at least a big kid I’d actually be open to listening to you and your beliefs but you have to respect mine 1st thats part of being american after all

Definitions for the foul mouthed fool:

Neo - new, as in new adaptation or new version or new strand. Sometimes used to explain mutations.

Conservative - one who adheres to traditional methods or views.

    Neo-Con - a mutated conservative.

So, “York the Mutated” has his definition. I challenge him to tell me what republican or conservative or neo-conservation publication would give me any space to rant and rave and threaten to beat republican women to a bloody pulp.

The difference between liberal sites such as this and the more “thought controlling”  websites of the right is that I would never have the opportunity to air my views the York has here. If York had his way, this website would not even exist. Thank God this country hasn’t gone completely under the control of people like him.

The folks on the right need to strong-arm their opinion on the rest of us.  York needs to get on a plane, go to Irag, and put his life on the line for things he truly believes instead of wasting our time.  Mothers of dead soldiers have more courage than this sniveling coward.

Go home, York, and beat your wife, if you have one. Or, at least let her put her shoes on so she can get your oxicontin presciption filled.  You need sedation.

Thank you, J. Kase for your “compliments.”

Here’s the bottom line.  The heart of this article is how women infiltrated the RNC and disrupted their love fest. The RNC is just as good at security as G. W. as cowering in a grade school when Saudis fly our planes into our buildings.

The American Women are going to take that Cocaine-sniffing, drunk-driving, loud-mouthed, wife-beating, lying warmonger out of the White House and send him back to his Crawford estate where he belongs. Then George and his daddy can re-write history and maybe twenty years from now he can make a political come-back like Tricky Dick did before he died.  Or, if we are real lucky, George I and George II will share a hospital room and fade away into Altzheimer’s oblivion like Ronny Reagan.  Then Laura can plead for stem cell research to resume once again.

Uh, yeah, let’s be honest. I think we both know that you’d “put Bill ahead” on the sole basis that you and Bill are of the same breed. You’re like the Chinese judge at the recent Olympics that was finally disqualified from judging because he kept giving the Chinese diver really high scores even when he didn’t deserve them.

And as for the yelling, that’s your apparently convenient mischaracterization of the fact that I have to use all capitals sometimes because some of the most basic and obvious things elude poor Bill. It’s called EMPHASIS, and your grasping at straws by trying to make an issue of it.

Fact of the matter is that I out-argued little Bill and he went wobbly. And like the loser that he is, he pulled the classic “Fuck You!” comment, which is a de facto admission that I rendered him helpless.

York’s disregard for human life is a disgrace to Americans.

As for the Republican Convention, I believe it is a tax payer supported event, belonging to every citizen of our great country, not to some slim minority of rich and arrogant elites. The Republican Party has abondoned it’s roots and fallen into a pit of anger, hate and corruption as York exemplifies.

York, I invite to self-imposed exile. I believe you and your intolerance would be much more at home on a desert island, or perhaps a right wing government like Uzbekistan. Enjoy!

United States Posted by weirdscenes on Sep 18, 2004 at 2:32 AM

York, the common definition of “neo-con” is provided for your education. Refer to the originators of the term, Project for the New American Century, The American Enterprise Institute, Don Rumsfeld, Scooter Libby, Jim Baker, Dicky “Buzz” Cheney, Jim Feith, and the rest of the “crazies” (the common in-house word for the cabal throughout the Carter, Reagan, Bush and Clinton administrations). Heck even Colin Powell used the term to describe Scooter and Buzz.

But as a right-winger you knew all that, right?

Here is a list of things said by Bill T. which he would not be able to support if I held a gun to his head:

    1) G. W. cowering in a grade school when Saudis fly our planes into our buildings.

    2) The American Women are going to take that Cocaine-sniffing, drunk-driving, loud-mouthed, wife-beating, lying warmonger…

And then Bill’s dementia increases. Case in point:

“If we are real lucky, George I and George II will share a hospital room and fade away into Altzheimer’s oblivion like Ronny Reagan.”

Then Bill T. returns to familiar territory - IGNORANCE:
“Then Laura can plead for stem cell research to resume once again.”

Bill, pull a chair up and prepare to be educated.

    1) Stem cell research show little, if any promise, for Alzheimer’s. To get you started, go here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A29561-2004Jun9.html

And to quote from the article: “...the infrequently voiced reality, stem cell experts confess, is that, of all the diseases that may someday be cured by embryonic stem cell treatments, Alzheimer’s is among the least likely to benefit.”

    2) The Bush administration has simply not funded embryonic stem cell research, it hasn’t BANNED it. Private companies are allowed to do it, and if it really HAS that much potential, then the private companies will be more than glad to fund their own research and reap the rewards of whatever cures may be found.

    2) Stem cell research destroys unborn human life in the process.

    3) Adult stem cell research is just as promising, and doesn’t destroy unborn human life. To get you started, go here: http://www.stemcellresearch.org/
    And here: http://www.21stcenturysciencetech.com/articles/winter01/stem_cell.html

    —————

Bill, if I were a betting man, I would wager that your level of education, such as it is, ended with highschool. Additionally, I feel confident at estimating your income to be in the paltry range, say, less than $30,000 annually. But regardless of your inept and feckless attempts here, please try to remember that trying to match wits with me will put you in quicksand every time. The harder you try to get out, the further down you will sink.

Now Bill, you can go back and do what you do best. Telling me to “Fuck Off”.

    Thanks for the laughs.

No sir. It is NOT a taxpayer supported event, nor is it a forum for anyone and everyone that wants to disrupt it. The Democrats had theirs, and like it or not, WE GET OURS. It is the REPUBLICAN CONVENTION. Not the ANYONE AT ALL convention. Not the WHINEY MALCONTENT convention. Not the LIMP-WRISTED PEACENIK convention. You really have trouble grasping this concept don’t you?

As for the “slim minority”, I wonder if you realize that this so-called slim minority has both houses of Congress, as well as the Executive Branch, and most of the Governorships. And most importantly, Prune Face and Pretty Boy are about to be shown the door come November…somehow by a “slim minority” no doubt. (I’m guessing you didn’t do very well in math did you?)

United States Posted by Bill Talkington Jr on Sep 18, 2004 at 3:08 AM

York is just the latest in the more guns or more jesus attitude to problem solving which a large segment of your population seems to think is the only method available to humankind.  Don’t analyse anything, just repeat the soundbytes; ‘The economy is strong and getting stronger; We’re making good progress in Iraq; Gay marriage is the greatest threat to the US since interracial marriage!”  Anybody shown you a recent calendar?  It’s the fucking 21st century dude, take your 17th century faith and hold on to it; you’re entitled to be as misguided and mindnumbed as you want.  Some of us would rather look to a future where people aren’t held in contempt simply because they have different opinions on controversial subjects than you do.  It’s called tolerance and respect, ever heard of them?  They’re ‘Christian’ values apparently.  And don’t for a second think you could have this exchange on any rightwing website, that isn’t their style; like you the technique is to launch an immediate personal attack against the person levelling the criticism, then offer some time-worn White House sanctioned soundbyte as a lame excuse.  “President Bush doesn’t care about how many Iraqi civilians are killed, because they’ve been liberated you gay sonafabicth!  Now it’s up to the free Iraqi people to count how many of them we fire on every single day, you liberal, terrorist faggot!”  Wow, hard not to warm up to that stinging debate.  Why not try to make a point without the desperation of resorting to insults and slander, or are you just too well trained in Republican brainswashing techniques?
Don’t you understand how pathetic you come off as a ranting, raving Bush sycophant?  Apparently not, as I’m sure your answer to terrorism would mirror Ann Coulter’s; “We should just make all those Muslims into Christians, or just bomb them all.”  What a progressive concept for uniting not dividing.

The vitriol, as expressed above, is inexcusable in a civilized society - even on a blog page.  This polemic can, and should be, raised to a more mature level.  There is no denying the fact that the Code Pink women involved in the protest at the GOP convention were courageous in exercising their constitutional rights.  I hope they read this so I may commend them for their gallantry.

United States Posted by Gary Kimball on Sep 19, 2004 at 4:38 AM

Actually, Bill Tarkington, the phrase “freedom of speech” appears nowhere in the Constitution.  Don’t be a smartass if you don’t know what you’re talking about.

United States Posted by Goldwater on Sep 20, 2004 at 12:59 AM

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercize thereof;  or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people to peacebly assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

That , Goldwater, is the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

Now, if you are trying to be a smartass by implying that the amendment is not in the constitution, then you are implying that an addition to a house is not part of the house.

An amendment to a bill is still part of that bill, as the First Amendment of part of the U.S. Constitution.  But, since I suspect that you use the name Goldwater due to the fact that you drink your own urine, then you are entitled to think any dim-witted thought your inbred brain can produce.

United States Posted by Bill Talkington Jr. on Sep 20, 2004 at 1:23 AM

Don’t feed the Trolls! Surely the point here is that this group of women, along with so many other brave Americans of conscience, are taking part in the civil protest that keeps democracies like yours open and vital: From the Boston Tea Party onwards.

Anyone who thinks protesters should be “beaten until they beg for death” is less a neo-con and more an acolyte of totalitarian leaders like Mussolini (or is totalitarian neo-con a tautology these days?) It actually sounds more like York is a 14 yr old with too much time on his hands and a big thick misogynistic streak. Expecting sensible commentary from someone that addled is like asking a parrot for investment advice. (There I go - poking the trolls again… Sorry)

The good thing is that York so disgusted me that I went straight to the Code Pink website and donated a healthy wodge to their cause. Maybe they can use the money to buy crash helmets in case York gets his homeland security policy adopted.

I only wish we were a little less apathetic on this side of the Atlantic. Our current leader has been caught out in untruth after untruth. I can’t accuse him of lying because, by his own admission, every time someone tells Blair the things he ought to know regarding the shakiness of the evidence for WMDs, the total absence of a link between al Q’aida and Iraq, the total lack of an exit strategy for the current operation, he performs the Prime Ministerial equivalent of sticking his fingers in his ears and singing “lalalalalalalal I can’t hear you”. So because of the “I did not lie, I acted in good faith” (faith being the operative word) line, and the lack of a decent opposition no-one here seems to have the cojones (or ovas) to make the kind of waves that are being made over there. Still - we don’t rely on F*x (“we distort, we decide”) for our news!

The problem with the fact that US Presidents always style themselves as “leaders of the free world” - the rest of the free world (and Florida) don’t get to choose! Not so much taxation without representation as representation without consent. If it were remotely legal for me to donate to Kerry’s campaign I’d happily live on pot noodles and tap water between now and november to help his cause.  In the meantime, supporting the private campaigns of disent is the best I - and others like me - can do.
So I add my own Kudos (for what it’s worth) to Code Pink, In These Times, Greg Palast & all the other vocal dissenters who are speaking up, not just for the US but for the enlightened world. It’s up to you now - not just because the US is now morally and finacially bankrupt, but because it’s dragging the rest of the world in its wake. We know it was the supreme court that appointed Bush, so we don’t blame you guys, but if he gets elected fair and square this time (what am I saying?) well then, you’ll get snotty service in french restaurants and condescending arrogance from the Brits. You know we’ve been practicing!

It is people like Code Pink, who take that extra step and risk to attempt to provoke new thought amongst our ignorant.. Bush=ignorance and there is no other way around it. There is nothing he is not destroying, and nothing he is not using to profit off of. Look at any environmental website, any international news page. Our media is simply the mouth for military propaganda. At this point, I would rather trust and live in anarchy than in a disgusting Capitalist society which we have come to today. Freedom is what this country is based on.. and if I’m not ready to have a child.. I don’t want to be forced in to a wasted life for myself and my child. If Republicans are so worried about abortion, why have they not concerned themselves with the 4.5 billion half life of the highly radioactive uranium we have been repeatedly bombing in to Iraq? What about those children? We have caused more atrocities in other countries through this President- under the cover of our Corportate owned media… FIGHT BACK!! Taste liberation for yourself.. do something!

    Hi Mr. York
I defined the word neo-con in the simplest terms possible.

    Emmalouise99,
Bravo and many thanks for the clear, concise and easy to understand(York)assessment of our current global-political environment.Give or take a detail or two,it speaks volumes.

We Americans sometimes lose sight of our influence upon the world, not realizing how our choices have a direct cause and effect relationship. From the toilet paper we use to the president we selec….er.. elect. We need reminders and I’m mighty grateful you can supply one.

Code Pink has been able to play an important part in this part of the world, but it will take an international movement to affect the kind of change needed to regain some semblance of balance.Political, economical, environmental and, yes, psychological.

A crucial piece begins with regime change here. The presidential choice, along with the toilet paper choice, are crucial ‘cause we’re in deep do-do.

Women’s voices must be heard.  War is not a game.

I just watched a Nova episode showcasing the latest U.S. military tactics.  War has literally been reduced to a video game.  U.S. soldiers simply pick out “enemy” targets on a monitor with a live video feed. This then triggers the system to launch an assault on the chosen coordinates.  Footage showed U.S. soldiers picking off a dozen or so “Taliban” as they came out of a Mosque.  Just like they were playing a video game. The conversation of the soldiers in the footage revealed how detached they were from the reality of what they were doing, they afterall were not holding the gun.

“We Americans sometimes lose sight of our influence upon the world, not realizing how our choices have a direct cause and effect relationship.”

That’s true.  Unfortunately.  By virtue of seventy years of predatory and strongarm economic tactics, America has become the world’s most profitable place.  And by creating war and instability in the entire rest of God’s creation you have maintained your hegemony.  Kudos.

And as a Canadian, I can safely say that the decisions that half of your country espouse are disgusting.  The image your country portrays through every one of its media is of children with the keys to the liquor cabinet.  You look boorish, arrogant, incompetent, intellectually numb, spiritually negligent.  All we ever see are instances of hypocrisy, tyranny and a terrifying thirst for hatred and revenge that rivals that of the “new jihad”.

Look at Bill and York.  Two prime examples of the belligerent American male.  Take those two insecure, multiply by 200 million, and allow that group to make decisions on a global scale and it’s no wonder that America is one of the most reviled and despised nations on Earth.  Non-compos mentis on a titanic scale.

The one intelligent thing America has done is that while the Taliban may have oppressed their own people, American government is the one institution on Earth that has oppressed every single other people EXCEPT their own.
