  Shame on President Fox.

  We are going to support Lopez Obrador. He is the best politician in Mexico. Above all, he is an honest man.

  Mexico cannot tolerate anymore corruption and poverty, it is time for a change, for a dream in a better country for our kids.

  I think the article had a very fair and accurate approach to the whole problem. Fox has been a terrible dissapointment managing the economy with mediocre policies, wich by the way, are the same ones that “W” is using currently in the States. Our damn public healthcare system has been already privatized last year, and now comes the electric industry and the oil… oh, the bloody oil.

  We, as progressives of different colors and shapes are together, and if we don’t turn this ships around we’re going to crash and burn very soon.

  The whole Minutemen Project could spread with more violence and intolerance in the future.

  Lopez Obrador is one of the few politicians that are actually planning how to bring back the millions of mexicans living in the US, and it just make perfect sense to all american citizens to support his legitimate movement to change the country. It reminded me of the Howard Dean media campaing to boycot his run for office, last year, and how it inspired and empowered me to “take my countryback”. Or the unfair impeachment trial of South Korea’s president in march of 2004.

  What kind of democracy is this ? so all this is about democracy? sending to jail good oponents. few years ago with president Zedillo we had more democracy, no political oponent is in jail but in presidency.

  I found the article very bland and simplistic.  It’s very much like the “Lopez Obrador” style to speak of the parties releasing videos, so now the bad ones are those who bring out the truth, and never mind the ones who were caught breaking the law.  That would make “deep throat” the heavy and Watergate’s place in history would be but a page lost in an obscure corner somewhere.
  Today he is back in his office, because he does not recognize the “fuero”, but just for CYA’s sake he will not sign any documents!!!… and we want this guy to be our next President???, a man who will not sign on to Social Health Care for the residents of Mexico City only because its a Fox initiative, (I’m not a Fox supportive) yet his option for Health Care is cruel and unfair on the poor and the very sick. There are clinics set up for the poor, too bad they have no medicines to give out, but heck, he can truthfully say there are clinics to take care of them… like a building (structure) is all that is needed to help our poor, ill and destitute citizens.

  Irma: Nobody’s arguing that the corruption scandals didn’t happen. But if you’re trying to convince the readers that Obrador is supporting his corrupt gabinet members, let me remind you that all of them are now in jail facing a criminal process. In a place like Mexico where the law can and is regulary broke, the PAN and PRI parties are the worst example of justice.

  The guy’s back on office because the Congressmen stripped the inmmunity from him AND ILLEGALLY they separate the mayor from his post (an attribution forbbiden by the constitution). That’s being argued right now in the supreme court of justice, by the way.

  And then you said that the man didn’t sign on to the Social Health Care initiative of mr. Fox. You have to remind the readers that Obrador’s promote free and universal health care access to all Mexico City’s residents, and Fox wants to implement a health care program inspired in an insurance policy, where the poor PAYS a monthly fee to the government in exchange to be attended in the federal health care system. That’s the big difference between Fox and Obrador: One is trying to be a “light” version of Bush, and the other one tries to be more like Zapatero, Spain’s PM.

  Mojo: This sure backfired on the PRI and PAN parties with the 1.2 million people march last sunday. Fox is now determined to stop the criminal investigation of Obrador, and that’s why he fired his attorney general a couple of days ago.

  Could you imagine, my dear gringo friends, that Bush fired González? Hehe.

  1.2 MILLION PEOPLE MEETING ON THE STREETS, IT’S A BIG DEAL THAT SHOWS WHAT MEXICAN’S POPULAR VOTE IS, AND THAT’S DEMOCRACY, HE IS ONE OF THE FEW AND MORE HONEST POLITICIANS MEXICO HAS HAVE IN SEVERAL YEARS. THANK YOU ANDRES MANUEL LOPEZ OBRADOR.
