Millions More Amassing

By Salim Muwakkil

The Republican Party’s “full spectrum dominance” of the national government and most of the corporate media has produced an anxious mood within the African-American community. Conditions are so bleak in so many areas we seem on the verge of a social emergency. A sense of impending crisis has jump-started efforts to unify the black community. Last month at the National Press… return to article

A black movement in 2004?  Come on!!  That will mean a union of Farakhan, Bill Cosby, Armstrong Williams, black ghetto dwellers, black upper-miiddle-class folk, and black workers.  This is not a group with vaguely similar interests.  The whole enterprise is doomed to failure.  A working class movement is what is needed.  A white cart-pusher at Wal-mart, a Black cart-pusher at Target, and a Sikh cart-pusher in a sepermarket in South Africa all have the same interests.  The class struggle is the only one that can achieve anything in these times.

From my understanding, Bill Cosby in on board with the Millions More Movement and its stated goals and it may come as a surprise but Armstrong Williams was actually a speaker at the 2000 “Million Family March”.

The similiar interest is quoted from the agenda statement online at http://www.millionsmoremovement.com/:

“..the masses of our people are slipping further behind. We have a larger middle class, many more millionaires and a few billionaires, however, the overall condition of our people is worse. We have more entrepreneurs, more college graduates, more persons holding political office, more Black mayors, city councilors, aldermen, state representatives, city managers, more corporate executives, yet the masses have not been empowered or improved.”

“The masses of our people are on a Death March into the oven of social deterioration, broken homes, broken marriages, broken minds, broken spirit, evolving from a string of broken promises by government and leadership that has failed to help our people turn around the misery and wretchedness of our condition.”

“The knowledge to correct the horror of our condition is among us. The potential force and power to cause us to rise as a people is among us. The finance to fuel our rise is also among us.”

“What then is needed?  It is the unity of our leadership and organizations. Our unity, the pooling of our resources, financially and intellectually will solve 95% of our problems.”

I couldn’t agree with this above statement more.

Of course there will always be haters but I would urge the organizers of this effort, please maintain your focus on operational unity and to hell with the doom-sayers!

Frankly it is time for this white boy at least to follow the leadership of the more independent Americans of color. They have no illusions of how “naturally great” America is.

The Demoplican Party is hopeless. Their new contract with corporate America doesn’t even call for them to win elections anymore. Just to keep taking baby steps rightward, enabling the Republicrats to do the same.

American Jews, traditionally progressive, are now on the “War Against Terrorism” bandwagon, seemingly feeling that if they will just avert their eyes while the neo-cons and Ariel Sharon accomplish the final solution they will at last enter the land of milk and honey. Witness Abraham Foxman’s comments above.

No, we need leadership, and I look to Americans of color to provide it.

Hey John, did you know that there’s an old Yiddish term for a republican jew?  Yup, the word is “SCHMUCK.”

United States Posted by Lefty on May 22, 2005 at 5:14 PM

John, BTW, true leadership is a rare characteristic.  It matters not what a leaders race is, only that he or she has a vision that followers can relate to and agree with, and has the energy to make himself known to the public.  Bill Clinton was the closest thing to a true leader in American national politics in many decades.  Ronald Regan had those traits.  Unfortunately he lead America closer to being a giant whorehouse than any President in U.S. history until W. Bush.  JFK and LBJ were the previous leaders who had vision, a message of good for America and the energy to take that message to the people.

United States Posted by Lefty on May 22, 2005 at 5:20 PM

Actually Lefty, the word for Republican Jew is “Neocon” to the anti-semites. It’s the pc tested term (i.e. code word) that they all use. Just giving you the FYI.

Hey, if a march is organized, can an angry old white dude join in?

This Bush cartel is bad for Black, Brown, Yellow, Red, White, and Sky-Blue-Pink America all rolled in!

I never thought that I would live to see an administration worse than Nixon’s. But, Bush takes the prize. It’s like the 4th Reich.

If there are buses, save me a seat ... back, middle or front, I don’t care. America is at risk and in peril. It’s a fur-piece between Portland and D.C., but I’m game.

United States Posted by DA on May 23, 2005 at 12:58 AM

In answer to the pseudonymous Lefty and Middle of the Road,

Equating opposition to the present American regime with anti-Semitism is the latest adaptation of that smear technique. Jews are no better or worse than any other of the earth’s people, as likely as the Germans or Americans to fall into the racist pit to justify their greed.

No one accuses me of being anti-Christian when I bemoan the similar tendency among Christians to avert their eyes from the excesses of the present administration.

Look up the actual letter written by some 800 people associated with Calvin College published in Grand Rapids, where George W Bush gave the commencement address over the weekend. It’s a simple statement of Christian principles, explicitly opposed to everything George W Bush has done since his regime seized power. It’s been a long time coming.

If a proportional number of Jews, who surely realize that expropriating Palestinian land, herding the Palestinians into Concentration Camps on the West Bank and making one large Concentration Camp of the Gaza are acts no more in keeping with their faith than the war in Iraq and the other un-Christian acts of the present regime are in keeping with the Christian faith, if they would stand up and just say no to the Likud as those Christians at Calvin College just said no to George W Bush, if they would just say no to the use of the anti-Semite branding of anyone who dares question the dead wrong program of the Likud, then we might begin to make some progress in the “war on terror”.

The 800 at Calvin College are a start. Tikkun is a start. We have a long way to go.

It seems to me that the group with the headstart right now in America are Americans of color. They did not vote for the present regime. They have no vested “image” to protect. They know real racism and need not conjure up its phantom to defend themselves. And they appear to be ready to march by the millions to make themselves heard.

If they manage to take over the Demoplican Party and make it Democratic once again I’ll be with them. If they become the nucleus of a Third Way in American politics, as seems more likely to me, I am surely with them.

It is not because Americans of color are better or worse than white Christians or Jews, it’s because at this point in time they find themselves able to act rightly. The Germans acted rightly as well in refusing to condone the US’ ill-fated “adventure” in Iraq. After a generation the cloud that hung over the Germans has lifted, has dissipated. Surely there are neo-Nazis and skinheads in Germany. Surely there are people on the side of Justice in America and Israel.

But the German state managed to just say no, we’ve been done that road before and we will not travel it this time.

The American and Israeli states are barreling ahead.

Thailand Posted by John Francis Lee on May 23, 2005 at 1:13 AM

Yeah, David Duke has “evolved” as well. Decades of Jew hating and Farrakhan has seen the light!

“But after witnessing the spectacle of hundreds of thousands of black men…”
    2 sentences later…
“Most accounts in the black media estimated that at least two million men attended”.

Truth- US Park Service and anybody without bias put the figure somewhere between 200K and 400K using pretty damn good aerial survelliance (they do this quite often to make sure they can accurately plan for crowd control, officers needed, etc. It’s pretty important that they get it right- and they always do). But of course the “Black Media” freaked out and tried to muscle apologies b/c they didn’t want to be embarrassed about the lowball turnout. Google keywords and you can get the gist of it. Salim awkwardly tries to squirm through this known set of facts with these sentences.

Is that a big deal for anybody but the “Black Media”? Not at all. Just be honest about it. Keep your credibility for Pete’s sake.

More importantly, polling data confirms Latinos and Jews are voting more Republican these days (Blacks are too by the way, but I’m sure everybody will freak out about that). Do you want a guy with a track record a mile long of spewing out such vile about Jews leading your movement? Is that remotely intelligent if you are trying to consolidate the power of the left?

You guys have lost every branch of government. Farrakhan as a help to your cause? Real smart!

    Middle of Road.

ps- John- “Concentration camps”? Please, for your sake, try a repost.

pps-yes, “middle of the road” is a fake name. I’m just too much a whimp to use my real name. Just like “Rhandie Rhodes”. the Air American “only woman with the courage to tell you the truth!” But hey, name me a conservative on air personality that uses a fake name to rebut me (sidenote- but please spare me “Michael Savage” - he’s a nutball, and that is actually his real legal new name).

United States Posted by Middle of Road on May 23, 2005 at 2:07 AM

I think I was vague- of course more Latinos, Blacks, and Jews vote Democrat than Republican. Just to be clear, polling data for the last 3 Presidential elections, Congressional races, various state races, etc. are mostly all showing an increasing percentage of these groups to vote Republican. But they are still pretty Democratic as a group.

Martin Luther King and numerous other former civil rights leaders must be spinning in their graves. In their day, they established moral authority by REJECTING theo-fascists such as Farrakhan. However, today’s Black progressive leadership is so ethically and intellectually bankrupt and desperate, establishing moral authority is simply not an issue with them any more.

    http://www.millionsmoremovement.com/news/webcast.htm

By the way, The National Park Service’s low-ball estimate of the Million Man March was scientifically debunked by Farouk El-Baz, director of Boston University Center for Remote Sensing.  He actually used satellite images of the mall to give a more accurate count which was from 900,000 up to almost 1.1 million and that only counted the men in the narrow strip of the Capitol mall itself and not the surrounding crowded streets.  His study is here—> http://www.eomonline.com/Common/Archives/1996feb/96feb_baz.html

I guess by using fuzzy (white-supremacist) math which counts each black person as 3/5 of a human being one could say the National Park Service was right? —> http://userwww.sfsu.edu/~lara276/pptschedule/tsld025.htm

Why do these haters and tricksters always try to USE the good name of Rev. Dr. King for mischief and to divide Black leaders? It’s such an old and warn out tactic, it should be retired.

Ordinarily, I hate going back and forth on issues. However, I am sure that the readers would be interested in knowing that the Web link given by John Blaz is nothing but a well-known PHOTO of Elijah Muhammad and Martin Luther King! How disingenuous can one get? After all, there is also a well-known photo of Martin Luther King and Malcolm X, but only the deluded and the historically ignorant would mistake them for close allies. Finally, as usual, Farrakhan’s apologists cheapen discourse by using such ad hominem attacks as “haters” and “tricksters.”

United States Posted by NORM R. ALLEN JR. on May 23, 2005 at 3:27 PM

Struck a nerver there, eh Norm?

To be clear, most Black leaders and the orgazations they lead don’t see eye on everything because they are not monolithic.  Certainly all the Black thinkers on the panel at that press conference don’t see eye to eye.

HOWEVER and that is a big however, that did not keep them from recognizing the need for OPERATIONAL unity as ( Rev. Jesse J. refers to it) and as that photo I linked to shows, that definitely DID NOT and should not keep leaders like Elijah Muhammad and Martin Luther King from coming together on solving the crucial issues that they agree on.

This understandably hurts the feelings of folks like you who would like to pit one Black leader against another to make themselves feel more confortable but it ain’t happening today, Norm!

This brings to mind Abraham Foxman’s paternalistic and insulting comments.  I believe Russell Simmons spoke on behalf of most Black people when he said:

“Simply put, you are misguided, arrogant, and very disrespectful of African Americans.”

Russell Simmon’s whole letter to the Foxman is here—>

Thanks, John Blaz, for the pointer to Russell Simmons :

’ Over 150 key leaders, including the NAACP, National Urban League and the National Rainbow PUSH Coalition, have signed on to be National Co-Conveners of the Millions More Movement and have all pledged to stay focused on the redemptive message and agenda of the commemoration…

’ For over 50 years, Minister Farrakhan has labored to resurrect the downtrodden masses of African Americans up out of poverty and self-destruction. A few days ago I personally witnessed him affirm, “A Muslim can not hate a Jew. We are all members of the family of Abraham and all of us should maintain dialogue and mutual respect.” ‘

My only misgivings over Minister Farrakhan or any other Minister who speaks in terms of “covenants” with God is the tremendous power religion has to bring out the very worst in people, whether they are Christian, Muslim, Jewish or members of any other institutionalized religion.

My misgivings are not lessened as to the dngerous potential of mixing religion and politics, but the equal and opposite potential is brought to mind reading George Galloway’s response to Esther Sassaman’s and Thomas Nagy’s questions published in Counterpunch :

    http://www.counterpunch.org/nagy05232005.html

’ I think - talking as a leftist, to leftists - let me say, the first hang up we have to get over is that somehow religion is a reactionary thing… Whether you believe in God or not, it can hardly be a bad thing that people want to live their lives by a value system of peace, which is what in the end religion is. Religions say, don’t harm other people. Treat people as you would wish to be treated. Don’t steal. Don’t kill people. And so on and so on. Well there’s nothing wrong with that. Even if you don’t believe in God there’s nothing wrong with that. And a person who sincerely believes that sort of thing is the kind of person that can be won to a broader progressive agenda. ‘

I hope that the people who do believe in peace and justice will march millions strong on our nation’s capital in October.

Have missginings about Minister Farrakhan. Thought only cammeleons can change their striping. The political clout is there and it needs to be harnassed through economic and numbers in supprt. While reading his words in the afore affirmation, strikes me, it’s riddled with smugness. It’s the secrecy and the exclusivness that haunts it. We all should be leaders not follow someone who is there via their own demogougery.Have you not forgotten that Farrakhan had a hand in the murder of Malcom X?!

Excellent article Mr. Muwakkil.  As a Million Man March participant I know for a fact that the entire Black population would benefit from experiencing the sense of community, family and love that prevailed at the march in 1995.  If that same sense of community can be achieved in 2005, we as a people should be able to survive the bush war against humanity intact and put this sorry chapter of this country’s history behind us.  Long live the spirit of the Million Man March.

United States Posted by theloneous on May 24, 2005 at 1:46 PM

Farrakhan admitted that he played a role in creating the atmosphere that resulted in the demise of Brother Malcolm. However, Farrakhan wasn’t even appointed a high position of power just yet after Malcolm and the Nation fell out.  Louis X was only the editor of a newspaper.  Elijah had eight sons and jealousy came about over who would succeed their father at the time of his departure.  Some of the sons most notably Herbert was jealous of Malcolm’s popularity as were other brothers not directly related to Elijah.  I side with Malcolm for uncovering the truth about Elijah, he went to Mecca and seen Islam for himself. Are you remissing the FBI informants that wiretapped and the brothers that infiltrated.  Talmadge Hayer one of Malcolm’s assailants had a rap sheet, and got reduced charges in exchange for helping the FBI take Malcolm down.  Now, who do you blame for the death of Malcolm, The Muhammad Speaks Newspaper editor, or an FBI informant????? Let’s not hate the messenger, but take heed to the message that MMM represents! The NOI has done more for the resurrection of the Black man than any organization in the history of our existence in the Western Hemisphere.  This is the only remaining organization where our leaders cannot be bought, and one cannot be pitted against the other as Stormin’ Norman tried to do in an earlier post.  Anytime there is a resurrection, reform, educating, cultivating or uniting of black, brown, red, and yellow men, the alarm goes off and the red flag is raised!!!

United States Posted by Salaam Thompson on May 24, 2005 at 4:59 PM

Salaam Thompson claims that “Stormin’ Norman tried” to pit “our leaders” against one another. Obviously, the Farrakhanites equate even the most reasonable critique of Farrakhan with treachery against all Black people. It is this dogmatic, theofascist mindset that might wind up destroying us all. In any case, remember that the late John Henrik Clarke refused to march with Farrakhan because the NOI leader sided with the slave owners of Sudan against their poor Black victims. Ask the minister where he stands on this issue now.

United States Posted by NORM R. ALLEN JR. on May 24, 2005 at 6:20 PM

“Farrakhanites”?  “theofascist”?  Farrakhan is one man.  The NOI is one organization.  If you would let one person prevent a whole race of people from coming together for their own benefit then you’re either a sabotuer or just a damn fool.

My main critisism of Farrakhan has always been his straying from the teachings of Elijah,(when was the last time he reffered to white folks as devils in public?) evidenced by his refusal to expose the dope dealing, strong armed tactics against Black businesses and general disrespect perpetrated by Arab immigrants in Black communities.  Like most other “religious” leaders, Farrakhan put his religion before his race, something no other group of people does.  Conceptually, the Millions More Movement puts our Blackness ahead of everything else for once.  If you still can’t get over old hangups and disagreements then you’re really not ready to be completely free.

I attended the Million Man March and felt very good seeing that many black men in one place trying to uplift our race. In my mind there was two major failures.
    1. It seemed to me that the objective was to gather 1 million men together with no plan beyond that. Everyone was all hyped up but there were no plans in place to channel that energy into something positive when we got back home.
    2. The buckets were passed and a considerable sum of money was collected. Minister Farrakan stated that there would be an accounting of how much was collected & what it would be used for. I have to this day not received thin info.
I would like to see it happen again, but this time with better planning. If it is going to be a ‘feel good’, money grabbing event it is doomed to failure.

Comments on MMM and Reparations @ May 2nd news conference

The Millions More Movement and the Power of One will continue to unearth the organizing and mobilizing for the just demand of Black people in America for Reparations.  Organizations, researchers, scholars and activists in the Reparation Movement will join forces in support of this historic commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the Million Man March in our effort to help further unify African people in America around this just demand.  This is one of the key elements of the power of one, our unity. Slavery and the slave trade are recognized by international human rights organizations, such as the United Nations, as crime against humanity. There are no statutes of limitations against nations who pay for these crimes. The demand for reparations for African people is a demand for justice of injustice and inhumane treatment, not a request for a handout. As we organize to participate in the 10th Anniversary of the Million Man March, we will be advocating that all elected officials in America support Congressman John Conyers, H.R. 40 Reparations Study Bill towards its passage in examining reparations for Black people in America for our centuries of uncompensated labor and dehumanization. We will also encourage all Black people who registered to participate in the Million Man March to sign a petition to declare their support for H.R. 40. Long live the spirit of the Million Man March!

The Million Man March audit report has been on various websites for nearly 10 years.

Words from Farrahan interview @ http://www.finalcall.com/artman/publish/article_1099.shtml

FC: Why was it important to conduct and publicize the complete audit of the Million Man March?

MLF: The enemy has always been able to point the finger of suspicion and/or guilt to Black leaders that they are enriching themselves at the expense of the people. Before the Million Man March took place, in my hotel room a very highly respected AME Bishop asked me two questions. One was about proselytizing Islam on that day where we had unprecedented Christian support. I told him that was not my purpose; that I would send these men to join mosques, synagogues, churches and temples. Secondly, he asked, what about the money? I said I would hire respected CPA firms, make a complete audit, and give to the world the results of that audit. I gave my word and I fulfilled my word.

A lot of the money that we saw in the hands of people we couldn’t collect because the lines were so tight, there was no aisle to go through. But whatever we were blessed to get, within three months or so, we had the complete audit of every aspect of the Million Man March. The press was called; and, of course, they who were pointing this finger of suspicion at us, now when the audit was a reality, they wouldn’t spread the news that the Minister had fulfilled his word.

This is the first march that we know of that was paid for completely by the people. We ended up with a loss, which the Nation of Islam paid. The Nation of Islam was the biggest contributor to the Million Man March, but poor people gave their nickels, dimes and dollars; some wealthy Black people gave money to make that March a success—and every nickel, every dime, every dollar was accounted for.

For one I think that all people who are oppesed to Min.Farrakhan putting together a opportunity for black people to be united are fools and are only set on people being forever divided. We are divided by our race and religions when in reality we all comefrom the same creator. I disagree with those who stated the Million Man March was a “money making scam”. Min.Farrakhan didnt ask for your money those men donated it in which it was put in a fund.It is a thing called charity. And no oe complains when you goto church every sunday or many days during the week only to be passed the bucket 2 and 3 times during the service. Now thats what i call a scam. Where does the money go? Do you see it?Does it do any good for you?No but you question something that is trying to help build something for black people who are slowly being controlled by someone else’s actions. That pastor rides up in a new benz with new jewelry and clothes and you know he doesnt work anywhere but the church, wheredoes he get it? From you.He is the bloodsucker of the poor.

Tell me have you seen any other leader in the community whether they be Christian,Hebrew,Muslim,or whatever mobilize a march in which that many men showed up for? They took off work, school to be there for a good cause.Exactly if you’re still thinking then you’ve answered my question with a “no”.I think the real ignorance is in the people who dont know a good thing when they see it. Minister Farrakhan never asked foryour monetary support because when it came down to paying to use the Monument on Washington who paid for it? Not nare one of yall? So if thats the case then yall dont need to worry about it cause you haven’t done anything beneficial for your community but criicize and try to pick apart a leader who defends all blacks when no one else will.Who else comes to your aid but Farrakhan? He even defends your leaders when they come iunder heat.I know there are millions out there that support Min.Farrakhan so I’m not even worried about your ignorance you portray!!! I support the Million More Movement because I know it will help jumpstart a new life for the future generations to come.

My comment is in response to theloneous in which he stated “My main critisism of Farrakhan has always been his straying from the teachings of Elijah,(when was the last time he reffered to white folks as devils in public?)” If you knew th true facts you would know for one that Min.Farrakhan learned everything he teaches through his interaction with the Hon.Elijah Muhammad. He was his first teacher who helped bring him into Islam.Just because he does not prefer to call Caucasian people “devils” does not mean he strayed away from his teacher.Thats insane!!!Thats like saying just because your father taught you to dress a certain way that you have to forever dress his way. He was taught to refer to them as “devils"and he does just not as frequently. It is not every other word that we should use devil. It is though your own preference that you decide what you what to do.He gives all praise to his messenger(The Hon. Elijah Muhammad) the one sent to deliver the message to the mentally dead in America. There was a time when he exposed the truth about the whiteman and his dealings and he still continues to today. It may not be as evident today as it was in the 70’s and 80’s but he still continues to spread the word of Freedom,Justice, and Equality for all. So Mr. Theloneous before you come bashing him for something so petty get your facts straight because its not that serious. He still believes in one God, whose proper name is Allah, and the messengers he has sent to reveal his message. And as long as we are foung doing right in God’s eyesight then we are alright.

First of all let me say that my attendance at the Million Man March was a life changing experience and that I took the MMM Pledge and try to live it everyday.  Secondly, I am registered for the Millions More Movement and, God willing, will attend and participate, so obviously I am a supporter of Minister Farrakhan’s objectives in spearheading these events.  Having said that I think if you re-read my post you would realize that I expressed some frustration with “his refusal to expose the dope dealing, strong armed tactics against Black businesses and general disrespect perpetrated by Arab immigrants in Black communities.” and as a result it appears to me that he “put(s) his religion before his race,”.  I base this opinion on my observation of the prevalence of gang and drug activity centered around Arab owned “corner stores”, various types of fast food restuants, dollar stores, liquor stores and gas stations on the Southside of Chicago.  Black, Chinese, Korean, Mexican or Pakistani owned businesses tend not to tolerate this activity in or around their stores.  My endeavors in real estate investments I have observed how various ethnic cooperatives, including Muslim Arabs, buy up commercial/retail properties in Black communities and corner various consumer markets by refusing to sell or lease space to Black business owners who might compete with their businesses.  These cooperatives swap properties between members and write off losses while waiting for national chain retailers, who they can’t compete with, to buy it at a premium to redevelop rather than sell/lease vacant spaces to Black business people.  The killing part is these cooperatives made up of immigrants get capital from the government to do this.  And if you have the misfortune of ever having to patronize Arab owned businesses they treat customers like shit while accepting their money for products practicing “Muslims” aren’t even supposed to indulge in.  Understanding the importance of Black control of commerce in our communities, the NOI under Elijah Muhammad would have spoken up in defense of our being exploited and disrespected in this manner whether the perpetrators were Muslim or not.  Thirdly, don’t feel I disrespected Minister Farrakhan in any way by expressing my thoughts.  While traveling to/from and during the MMM, the type of discussion we’re having now took place, Black people holding intelligent passionate discussions about whats in our hearts and minds, certainly no disagreements should keep us from coming together in unity to advance Black people, families and communities in America and the world over.

Thelonious I thought that was you my brother!!! Norm you still haven’t changed my asessment of the intention of your post(s).I see you didn’t detest any of the facts I presented, but if you think Islam is dogmatic, that is fine, you have your right to an opinion, albeit a ridiculous one! Everytime a blackman stands up for us he is always pitted against another.  The only reason Dr. King was adored by many was because he taught non-violence and was pigeon holed as a “civil rights activist.” But April 4 1967 when his speech denouncing the Vietnam War, and subsequently denouncing unfair housing in the City of Chicago where I’m from by the way, and unfair labor practices in Memphis,“Hey Martin, I though you were just a civil rights activist. Nah, nah you went to far Martin, we gon’ have to teach you a lesson and his life was taken a year later. The same thing was tried with Jesse and that didn’t work ‘cause Farrakhan supported him, so what was the next thing raising up brother Malcolm from the grave and try and pit him against him.  Also, NevaScared, Thelonious is right, I grew up on 61st and Racine, where I called them Arabs on that hypocrisy when I was 12 years old. Thelonious Farrakhan on Saviours Day one time spoke on this but kinetically didn’t do anything in the way of activism in this regard. I asked them why would you sell us pork and alcohol and shellfish and cigarettes when you don’t partake of these things. I remember when they would greet us they would try to use their left hand, the ydidn’t know Iwas up on that. In Arab culture they wipe their ass with their left hand and have a bucket of water.  Notice when they eat they ONLY use the right hand.  Amputation of the right hand is a form of punishment in the Middle East.  So when an Arab tries to greet you with his left hand you floor his ass, HAHA!! When I unveiled them, they gave me and my brothers our respect and I expounded my knowledge of Arabic, through them!

Also Norman, In regards to your post about Farrakhanites shows an example of the depth of convoluted thinking.Islam is older than Farrakhan bro, been around for centuries. I follow mainstream Sufi oriented Islam, but at the same time cognizant of the plight of my people. Our family is well acquainted with the Minister so your ignorant phrasing of Farrakhanite???? C’mon now. Farrakhan vistied Sudan and I heard the speech he gave upon his return so you said he refused to march is untrue!  How many speeches have you heard by him?? How many times have you saw him on a World Friendship tour uniting black people all over?? Just the thought of that makes you steam doesn’t it?? But you say nothing about the colonization in Sudan and just how do you think the Sudanese got these automatic weapons to rule over themselves??? ARE YOU SURE YOU WANNA TEST ME AND GET TO THE ROOT OF THE REASON WHY SUDAN AND MOST OF BLACK AFRICA IS IN THE CONDITION IT IS IN???? Unless you are well read I suggest you pump your brakes while you’re ahead, don’t get embarrassed up in here!!!!

United States Posted by Salaam Thompson on May 26, 2005 at 4:45 PM

I was skeptical regarding another march but if it is utilized in the right way it can be the catalyst for change which America desperately needs.

We’ve always been dividing by race, but the truth is we all need each other.  The important thing is for us to stop Bush and the Axis of Evil which is Wolfowitz, Chaney, Rumsfield, Rice and the U.S. Supreme Court.

All of our rights as citizens are being bastarized and sold off like chattel while Bush and his handlers pull off the Great American Heist.  They are bankrupting this country and using Latinos and other 3rd world immigrants to undercut the American economy.

No more unions, no more job stability, no more social security, no more public education and what’s health care?

Farrakhan needs to do this March and we need to support it, even if we shut down Washington for a month to send the message that we are not gonna let Bush and the New World (Dis)Order reign supreme.

We cannot afford to let race divide us on this.  We must act now before all is lost.

Iraq has not been rebuilt.  Haliburton and companies like them have pocketed this money. Our soldiers come home broken and suffering and can’t get health care or their old jobs back.

We need to March on Washington until the tides turn.

Don’t sleep on this one people!!!

Whadup Salaam?  I learn something everytime you post, I knew not to accept the left hand extended by an Arab (as I’ve had confrontations with them too) but didn’t know why, now I know.  Keep the knowledge coming.  Peace

Ok Theloneous I understand your point but youare mistaken in one thing. The NOI is still under the leadership of The Hon. Elijah Muhammad with Min. Farrakhan standing in his place during his departure to Master Fard Muhammad. In his speeches he always refers to Hon. Elijah Muhammad being his leader. So there is no change in the message just the vessel it comes through. We shouldnt look at the person who is delivering it we should look at the message itself, the messenger and whether it will do us any good.Their are bigger issues regarding our welfare other than whether they’re selling us pork, alcohol, or whatever even though they are important issues. And those practicing Muslims should be held accountable for what they know after being taught what is best for them. And yes I agrre we shouldnt let our intelligent disagreements seperate us because thats what they want:for us to fallout because of a little issue.

I have enjoyed the wisdom and the high level of consciousness of the my brothers/sisters in the “post its”. In the 1980s and 90s when authors like Dr. Ben, Van sertima, John Jackson, Farrakan, Dr Finch, Dr King on “blackdot”, et al were nourishing us with mental food in preparation for a time like this ..in 2005, who would have the wiser…but Allah to plan this stealth operation right under the nose of the those who are planning our demise. Today we are wiser to the old tricknological tactics of those of ill-will. We are more conscious of who we are and what time it is!!! All praise is due to Allah!!! My brothers, you have made me proud!!! take off the mantle of “fear”, and put on your armor of truth, justice, and righteousness - “Maat”- We have been “free” a long time ago ...we are just now realize that a european philosophical construct was never a viable solution to the problems they told that we had. Rise UP you mighty race of ancient KINGS and QUEEN and take your rightful place…increase your vibratory rate of consciousness from 12/60 to 13/20…and stand on the vertical like your ancestors once did!!!

When A.Philip Randolph threatened to march on Washington he was making concrete demands on the government. To ask for or demand nothing is curious to say the least. However, lets see what happens. It would be worthwhile to demand just treatment of Yvon Neptune who may be near death in Haiti. If we know our history we cant ignore this issue. Two hundred years ago Haiti offered sanctuary for any runaway slave who reached her shores. We might also demand justice for Mumia Abu Jamal. To call a million troops together for a risk free reunion may not be very meaningful

Black Brothers and Sisters,It is time to save theBlack Race in amerikkka from destruction so all of us must come together for this MMM! As for Farrakan having a hand in Malcolm X’s murder-that is a white lie(via CIA who are behind using Black people to kill Black people like they have done in Africa, and other parts of the world-divide and conquer!)As A Sister born there and now back to the Motherland I will do all I can to support the march with prayers and who knows we just might have one here in Nigeria on the same day!Black folks need to get together worldwide cause that is how we will solve our problems-UNITY,BLACK UNITY!

Israel Posted by Sister Yeye Akilimali Funua Olade on May 28, 2005 at 9:36 AM

Brother Wallace I understand what you are saying, but before we can make any type of collective demand on the government, there are some in-house clean up duties that need to be adhered to which was the purpose of the first MMM.  Our fathers have to be maintainers and protectors of our women.  Our women have to be our comforters. We got scores of thousands of children in foster care, our fathers are running away from responsibility, hence we can raise sound men and women for generations to come.  Even if we did place whatever demands on the government, we’re not teaching our children so when they come of age a federal judge will be appointed again to roll back whatever provisions were granted to us, because we didn’t groom. Colloquially speaking we can’t roll our tanks on DC if we didn’t lay the mortar for our tanks to travel.

    Brother Salaam,Right on!
This is our main problem caused by racism, slavery and extreme inferiority complexes(most of us have been taught to hate BLACK,and act out the consequences!)We have got to get back to our African culture! Yes,there in amerikkka we must rebuild African culture which we have reminents of in the South.Every African is their brother’s/sista’s keeper! We will solve these problems together and build African institutions here in this wasteland of amerikkka! Our own schools, realBlack churches and mosques and African shrines!Back to Africa morally, culturally, spiritually and physically visiting the Motherland on a yearly basis! That will uplift any Black person is to see what Africans are doing to uplift their own people! Why we left our mind in Africa as Brother Malcolm X said!

    Farr-a-con is a joke.

He had the Million Man March ten years ago and gave a silly speech and a pep talk and then everyone just went back home.  Then ten long years passed and all that was talked about was the Wilie Lynch Letter.  For ten years!!!!!

Now everyone is ready for another fancy pep talk.  And that is all Farr-a-con-man has ever done.  He is a calypso singer.  He is not a leader.

What has he done in Chicago????  It’s the murder capital of America while he lives in the white community. And blacks are too damn silly to see or smell the bullshttt.

Every ten years farr-a-coon gives a big spectacular speech, but then nothing else happens.  Gangs and drugs continue to grow!!!

2005 = Million More Movement = no progress

1995 = Million Man March = no progress

1985 = P.O.W.E.R. speech in Madison Square Garden = no progress

1975 = Claimed he would rebuild Elijah’s works = no progress

1960s = Spoke out against Malcolm X who only grew tired of the armchair revolutionary bullshttt himself.

Farr-a-con has a long legacy of doing nothing but excercising his right to free speech!!!!  (And God bless America for the right to free speech.)

Farr-a-con-man criticizes everyone and everything and every religion in the world, but no one is supposed to analyze and criticize his lack of progress without being labled an “agent”.

Farr-a-con-man is the only one who is supposed to excercise “free speech”, no one else.

    Now, call me a hater…

United States Posted by farra-con-man on Jun 22, 2005 at 7:54 PM

Ok farra-con-man or whatever you want ot call yourself. You are a damn fool because you being so ignorant to what is being put in front of you. The MMM was not about having a “fancy talk” or whatever it was about bringing a change among people who have been mentally dead and enslaved for hundreds of years and to break the chains off of their minds. It sparked a change in everybody who attended whether they admit it or not.If it didntaffect them it affected their families knowing that their brothers, fathers, uncles, and sons wanted to to better. They were apart of history that shall be forever remembered in the hearts and souls of the people. And for you to say that Min. Farrakhan is a calypso singer you are dumb. He WAS a calypso singer before he joined the Nation of Islam.People always want to bring up someone’s past-not thats its bad or anything. That was his job of choice in those days and he did well at what he was doing and is still doing for the community-uplifting it.You on the other hand are tearing it down with your nonsense.

United States Posted by neva scared on Jun 22, 2005 at 8:30 PM

    farra-con-man
You are absolutely correct in YOUR PERCEPTION of Minister Farrakan’s Progress or lack there of.
YOUR PERCEPTION is YOUR REALITY ... and if that is the way you perceive Minister Farrakan’s contribution to humanity, who am I to disagree with your ignorant state of mind. No one outside of you can change your perception of the world around you!!! But remember this “A WISE MIND CHANGETH MUCH ...But A fool - like yourself - never does…
And know this ...We still love you..inspite of yourself!!!

United States Posted by Sunnie on Jun 23, 2005 at 1:33 AM

First of all Farra con man, Minister doesn’t live in the white community.  He lives on 48th and Woodlawn where the Blackstones are, and he also has a home in the Beverly area also a predominately white neighborhood. Try getting your facts right first, that always helps. You say he makes no progress, do you call getting a junkie to take needle out his arm, and the winehead to put the paperbag down NO PROGRESS??? You’re a fool to believe that nonsense. He only criticizes the false worshippers of religion, the hypocrites. Have you even been to a Saviour’s Day??? Have you even copped a DVD, Tape, or are you going off of soundbites that you hear in the media. I been blessed to meet this man twice and the latter time dined in his home, when I lived in Chicago I wasn’t a dignitary or a head of state. He’s even said if you disagree with him write him and he will respond.

United States Posted by Salaam Thompson on Jun 23, 2005 at 5:05 PM

    THESE ARE THE FACTS:

2005 = Million More Movement = no progress

1995 = Million Man March = no progress

1985 = P.O.W.E.R. speech in Madison Square Garden = no progress, no products

1975 = Claimed he would rebuild Elijah’s works = no progress

1960s = Spoke out against Malcolm X who only grew tired of the armchair revolutionary bullshttt himself.

Black people have a really bad habit of not criticizing their leaders when they should.
And this is exactly how slavery started: IT WAS BLACK RELIGIOUS LEADERS WHO PREACHED DOOM.  AND THEY STILL PREACH DOOM!  SO, IT IS NO WONDER THAT DOOM IS ALL BLACKS ARE RECIEVING!!!

And why are farr-a-cons boys still standing in the middle of the street blocking traffic selling things?????? That in itself proves they have not built anything.

And didn’t the despised Malcolm X invent their newspaper anyway?!?!?!?

    Something to think about hmmmmmm????

United States Posted by farr-a-con on Jun 30, 2005 at 12:21 AM

Black religious leaders preach doom??? Which ones are you talking about??? TD Jakes better not come from your mouth, Wilie Barrell better not come from your mouth, Creflo Dollar better not come from your mouth either. The preachers grafted in the institution of slavery did yes, but from whom did they learn it from??? Wasn’t churches back in the day segregated, and the Bible partitioned so that the so-called Negro slave can be controlled in the name of Jesus???? Then they educated a house negro to preach certain doctrines, and not the full Gospel of Jesus, because if they reaaaaally learned the full Gospel they would be a much better people! Also O ignorant one, Malcolm invented The Muhammad Speaks Newspaper, NOT THE FINAL CALL, so again, you have a disdain for facts I see. Min. Farrakhan started the Final Call. As far as you call them Farracon’s boys in the street selling things, are any of those things drugs????? How about alcohol??? How about guns???  NOPE!!! I noticed in your post you said not one word about that, they sell knowledge, truth, spiritual, mental, medicine! I see you have a problem with black people rehabilitating themselves, and I start to wonder what your are! Any black person whether they agree with the Nation of Islam or not KNOWS that the Nation has done nothing BUT empower our community.

United States Posted by Salaam Thompson on Jul 1, 2005 at 7:43 PM

The Nation of Islam is not a nation at all…

A real Nation provides jobs and security for millions of people, and Farr-a-con does neither.

Sadam Husain is no longer the president of Iraq but his people are STTTIIILLLL FIGHTING FOR HIM because he built a REAL NATION for them!!!!!
    What has Con built???

Have you noticed that more and more black criminals are in the news with the name MUHAMMAD???

And this is why Farr-a-con is not considered a real Muslim.  He has made no progress whatsoever like the Muslims from the MiddleEast have done in twenty years.  He names people Muhammad and then they disgrace themselves and become criminals in the news.

    But, Oh, that’s the white man’s fault…right????

Farr-a-con can criticize EEEEEVERYONE in the world but no one is supposed to criticize and analyze his lack of progress in the forty years he’s been preaching?????  That is called a DICTATOR!!!!

Do you think this is fair or farr-a-con???

United States Posted by farr -a-con on Jul 4, 2005 at 5:13 AM

    BROTHER “FARRACON”,
We still love you even if you don’t see the good Minister Farrakan has done. I myself am a Black Christian Scientist but I know how much good the NATION OF ISLAM HAS DONE for the BLACK community in reforming BLACK PEOPLE FROM THE streets and prisons and how he has restored the BLACK MAN as the head of the family, making him responsible like his African brothers! The problem I think you have is that you are discouraged by the current plight of the BLACK RACE IN amerikkka and there we all have to agree with you-we BLACK PEOPLE in amerikkka are in big wahalla(Yoruba for trouble!)NOW BROTHER,and you will always be my BROTHER no matter what you say,we must offer concrete suggestions when we criticize and we at the same time must be more positive about what we can do,and link up with people who are doing what we feel we can help do to uplift the BLACK RACE!Being discourage is not it! Even here in Africa/NIGERIA many people are discouraged like you are but we tell them do something and link up with others and PRAY BECAUSE ALL THIS HAS A SPIRITUAL DIMENSION.God will tell what we need to do to save the BLACK RACE IN amerikkka and AFRICA!

KEEP ON PUSHIN’,BLACK SEEDS KEEP ON GROWIN’,THE BLACK RACE WILL RISE AGAIN IF WE ALL SO OUR PART!

Blacks have a bad habit of not knowing how to determine what makes a good leader. Nor how to distinguish the good ones from the bad ones.

A leader does more than just talk and give mystical speeches like farr-a-con gaves.

Slavery happened for one reason: Black leaders did not fight for us when they were supposed to.

And the Bill Cosby controversy is another example of how a dumb person in authority wants to criticize black people for no reason at all but we are not supposed to criticize them.

No other race would tolerate what black people allow from their leaders.  We have the worse leaders in the world.

When an army looses a war, whose fault is it, the foot soldiers or the general who planned the war and issued the orders and commands????

United States Posted by farr-a-con on Jul 4, 2005 at 10:53 AM

Okay Farrakhan what is a “real” Muslim as you put it?? Then you say “have you noticed that more and more black criminals are in the news with the name Muhammad??” Let’s peruse the roll call of a few correctional facilities in the country and see their last names. So what’s the last names of all the murderous pedophiles you’ve seen on the Nancy Grace show lately?? Have you also noticed that John Allen Muhammad(whom I imagine you are referring to among others unknown to me) served in the military where THEY taught him to fire a rifle??? You do not learn that in FOI classes. That is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. Bill Cosby is another subject altogether.  In fact you share teh same self-lothing behavior that he embodied recently so how can you separate yourself from him or Jessie Lie Peterson or Larry Elder???? Then you say “No other race would tolerate what black people allow from their leaders. We have the worse leaders in the world.” If no other race would tolerate what black people allow, explain to me how the Bush administration got re-elected AFTER all the lies came about and no one called for his impeachment?? Hitler led Germany, and the German people fell for it hook line and sinker, c’mon you gotta be kidding me!!!

Sister Yeye Akilimali Funua Olade asked what can blacks begin to do now…

Sonnie says blacks should stick their heads in the sand and continue to BLAME WHITES FOR EVERYTHING….BLAME WILLIE LYNCH LIKE FARR-CON-MAN TOLD THEM TO DO AT THE MILLION MAN MARCH!!!!

The sad reality is that blacks must now look at themselves and say: How did slavery happen???  And this is the whole point of the growing conservative movement in America.  People are tired of lazy excuses like Farrakhan keeps giving black people and telling them that a spaceship will save them and kill the whites.  LOL!!!

Blacks must look at their own shortcomings, and that is hard to do because it hurts to admit ones faults.  But this is something that all races have done but the blacks.  How much of blacks problems are their own fault? Answer that Sonnie instead of telling people to ignore me!!!!

Like I said earlier, how many jobs does Farrakhan provide or does he just preach fancy sermons about spaceships WHILE THE WHITE MAN BUILDS HIS OWN SPACESHIPS LIKE THE SPACESHUTTLE!!!

    Fancy speeches for fifty years.

Malcolm x was a better speaker but got tired of just talk, talk, talk.

Can you imagine Malcolm x still giving the same speeches over and over decade after decade.

Malcolm x died like a real leader who loved his people.

Malcolm x left the Nation of Islam because he knew that all they were going to do is talk, talk, talk, talk and excercise their freedom of speech THAT THE WHITE MAN GAVE THEM!!!

FARRAKHAN SHOULD SAY GOD BLESS AMERICA FOR FREEDOM OF SPEECH!

THE WHITE MAN IS NOT THE DEVIL, HE IS ONLY A MAN WHO PROVIDES FOR HIS FAMILY AND BLACK MEN NEED TO LEARN TO DO THE SAME THING AND STOP BLAMING WILLIELYNCH AND SPACESHIPS LIKE FARRAKAH KEEPS TELLING YOU TO DO.

    WHAT SPACESHIPS HAS FARRAKHAN BUILT?

Brother farracon has given us two suggestions to work on: examine ourselves, and our leaders, and others should create jobs for our people. These are constructive things we can all work on.Every Black person can example themselves and determine that with God supporting them all obstacles posed by racism in amerikkka can be overcome. Rid ourselves of inferiority complex by knowing that God created us as beautiful Black people who do have DOMINION over all obstacles! How can you work toward self-employment? Can you asking God,what service can I offer to begin my own business?Start small ,on the side until your activities become big enough to quit working for others.Support Black leaders that seek to provide for our people in the many ways that help uplift the BLACK RACE!Set up your own Black schools,or put your child in one all ready set up and support their fundraising to make our Black children have a curriculum that makes them proud of who they are and ready to ” accomplish what they will”!Set up Cooperatives for food buying or look out for ones already set up. Many Black people have set up things that need Black support, including BLack busineses. So many things we can do to support each other as we raise up to solve our problems in BLack Unity. My dear Brother,I know that you too will help build Black institutions that will do all these things. Each one of us can daily do positive things to help each other and uplift the RACE!

Farrakhan thought he was going to “rule” over the Islamic world with his silly, stupid version of Islam!!!

Farrakhan is a silly joke that nobdody inthe Islamic world listens to but his silly Jim Jones followers.

Black people believe anything that is not real.  The further from the real truth it is the more black people will believe it.  Jim Jones for example.

Every race on earth is passing the black man up.  The Mexicans, the Russians, the Arabs come right into the black community and sell whatever they want to.  AND FARRAKAHN IS NOT GOING TO DO A DAMN THING BUT LOOK PRETTY FOR THE NEWS CAMERAS.

Eventually the Arabs are going to tell Farrakhan to stop preaching his fairytales and calling it Islam.  The Arabs are going to make Farrakhan go back to Christianity and being a Catholic.

These racist blacks are so stupid with their facts, it makes me laugh.  Hey, to you blacks that are Muslims, don’t you know that Muhammed was a light skinned man that hated blacks?  Don’t you know that most in the Muslim world don’t really like blacks?  You’ve been duped again

It’s a shame that blacks are allowed to publically have groups that only support blacks, but have the balls to accuse whites of doing the same thing.  Having a “leader” makes you look weak to begin with, regardless of your color or ethnic background.

ANd besides, isn’t that also kind of ironic that you hate white people and the USA…yetit was white people and this country that came up with the idea of free speech?  These very people and country allow you to spew the most vitrolic hatred against them without fear of censure?

Quit whining, drop your anger and take some responsiblity for your own actions.
