Law Is Dead

Pressure to enforce China’s one-child policy has led to horrific crimes by local governments

By Jehangir Pocha

It was difficult for Chen Guangcheng to come to Beijing The blind social activist from Linyi, in China’s eastern Shandong province, needed a friend to hold his hand and help him navigate China’s overcrowded bus and train systems as he made the six-hour trip to the nation’s capital. But the journey back was even harder. Within days of arriving in… return to article

“Look at this, is this abortion or murder?”

I thought that was a pretty powerful statement. My Grandmother has been saying this since she was a teenager: There’s going to be a revolution in China.

I, personally, can’t wait. I think America should definitely start putting pressure on the Chinese government to start allowing a greater degree of personal freedom.

What else is there to say? I realize that this is just an attempt to decrease the population of China, which of course is needed greatly. But there has to be better ways than forced abortions and such.

    Charming, AIN’T IT???

And what’s the chances that the AMERICAN government may do this, one day - when they have a) formed a dictatorial enough government, and are able to control all our internet access, like they do in China

and b) when the US government’s CURRENT anti-abortion policies have been so rigorously enforced, that they result in VIRULENT over-population, and when the govt. has to do a violent about-face because of it!  As they would have to.  They might kill people/foetuses selectively, according to ethnic/income group.  Some of their “thinktanks” already want to abort black babies.  http://www.wsws.org/articles/2005/oct2005/benn-o03.shtml

Know what I would have done?  Kidnapped sisters/in-laws OR NOT - I would NEVER have gone back; never have come out of hiding until my baby was born, and preferably, even weaned.  If the government is going to be ruthless, individuals have to be doubly so.  Adults can look after themselves.  If you want a kid and have an abortion… well, it does sometimes damage your fertility.  It’s criminal at 8 months anyway, by any pro-choicer’s standard as well.

Ever read/seen the Chinese epic: “The Water Margin”??  It’s like a medieval Chinese Robin Hood/Seven Samurai, whatever, where all these talented characters form a political band of fighters against systemic injustice.  I rather think the Chinese might try that instead of just Falun Gong.  Kill a few of their evil “police”.  That would serve those bastards right.
