Chvezs Opposition Opts Out

On December 4, Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez called the opposition’s eleventh-hour decision to withdraw from the country’s congressional elections an attempted “coup” and pledged that his government would respond with a “counter-coup.” He added that every time the opposition attempts to force him out of power, his government “deepens the process of transformation.” Evidently, changes in store for 2006 will… return to article
