Aaron McGruder, the radical cartoonist, insists that the Rev. Al Sharpton’s “perm” prevents him from being taken seriously as a presidential candidate. Victory for the African-American community? Are you crazy? Moseley-Braun is lucky she wasn’t indicted while in office, about the only worse example of “leadership” for the African-American cause would be Mr. Photo-Op himself, Jesse Jackson. Please, there has GOT to be a better candidate than Carol M-B, gimme a break!
I have to disagree with Mr. Muwakkil’s essay, AL Sharpton is not and never will be a decent political leader. A decent civil rights activist, and labor leader maybe. THough I want to clarify I’m in no way supporting the Democrat’s or there stand, I sit much farhter to the libertarian LEFT than our Dem. party. But Sharpton is just a joke. He has contributed some good things, and respect is given for that, but he should stay on that path and use his resources where he can best. I say convince Jesse Jackson Jr. to run and I’ll give him some support. THat would be a much better vote.
maybe the Democrats are afraid that rev Al will expose their acceptance of contributions from companies that do not have the interest of the voters as a priority. Maybe he will expose some of the mealy mouthed rhetoric that is soon to be forthcoming…“new ideas”...“new energy”...“new thinking”...the usual nonsense that does not speak to the average citizen in this society.
