Leaked documents describe Patriot Act II

By Naureen Shah

Like the big-budget movie sequel kept under wraps for months and rumored to be much worse than the original, what has been called Patriot Act II is making headlines months before its release. In February, the Center for Public Integrity, a watchdog group, announced it had received a leaked copy of draft legislation that details significant expansions to the already notorious… return to article

I am a mother of a 19 year old and I don’t want my son drafted. I don’t want any of our young men going off to war. If they are willing to that is one thing, but about the one that have a problem with killing another human being. This is a hard issue for sure.

When Patriot II was first revealed, I thought that the revelation was probably the courageous act of a Justice Department lawyer who was appalled by the act’s provisions.  I don’t know whether it is because of a growing sense of despair or of paranoia, but I am beginning to think that it was deliberately leaked by the Department as a trial balloon to see how much they could get away with.  Given the reaction of the media and mainstream commentators, I think that the Department now realizes that it can get away with almost anything.  I think that after another terrorist attack on the “homeland” we will see legislation passed that makes Patriot II look mild.

All I can say is if we don’t get the dubya and his gang out of the White House, we won’t have a U.S. Constitution under which this country was established.  We will only have the Republican Doctrine which will imprison everyone who doesn’t agree with them.

I must say that this reminds me of the minister, Lutheran, I believe, who said that the Nazis came for their political enemies and he did nothing, not being very political, they came for the Jews, but he was not Jewish, they came for the Catholics, but he was not catholic. Finally they came for him and there was no one left to defend him. If we do not rise up in huge numbers because of this we will get what we deserve. I plan to stop paying taxes and if this is going to be the model of Democracy in the future, I copuld live much cheaper elsewhere.

the motives of government are becoming more and more clear each day and EVERYONE knows this.  It’s time for change, not just within our government parties, but within government itself.  Humanity, truth, and justice for all should be the driving force for life itself.  There’s something seriously wrong with the way this world is run.  You know this, I know this, now it’s time to do something about it.  We can’t just sit back and let this happen.  It is time for people to Wake Up.  We NEED to make things happen, not just for America, but for all of Humanity. We are All One.  We should start acting like it.

I would not be surprised if bush makes a move to be king or some other dictator type by saying the country is in danger. Not imposable..

I have voted for Bush, and will vote for Bush again.  Gore would have made things much worse. Nader is the best thing to come along since sliced bread, because he will slice the Democrats up every time. I would rather have Nader than Gore or any other of the presents Democrats you have running. At least Nader has principles.
