In Praise of Impeachment

Pelosi may have put it “off the table,” but it’s not her decision anyway

By John Nichols

A lot of progressives were perturbed when, immediately after the American people handed the House Democratic Caucus the power to check and balance the Bush presidency, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) repeated her enthusiasm-dampening pledge that “impeachment is off the table.” But there is nothing new about a Democratic Speaker of the House shying away from the “I” word, even when… return to article

He should be impeached right along with Cheney. Pseudo-progressives like Marc Cooper have been ranting against it
for a year now but how else can we curb Executive lawlessness ?
Unfortunately AIPAC controls 99% of Congress in both houses and
they LOVE Bush. Don’t expect much.

The single greatest threat to individual liberty, Pelosi has assumed a place in the line of secession to the Presidency. A few show trials and some purchased votes with George Soros’s millions clear the way for an unelected Socialist pawn to seize the White House in a classic coup. The apparatus for controlling the citizens is already in place. The national identity card program would be instituted and the confiscation of firearms would begin.  Armed conflict ensues and Pelosi calls on the UN for assistance and welcome to The Socialist Republic of North America.

Texass, you are out to lunch. Pelosi is barely a liberal, much less a socialist, she is well to the Right of most of her constituents here.
It would be hard to beat Bush’s Big Government record or his own
many assaults on the Bill of Rights starting with the misnamed
    “Patriot” Act.

The Progressive Democrats are funded, supported, and sprouted from the Democratic Socialists of America. Pelosi as the leader of the Progressive Caucus is a Marxist. George Soros is the billionaire responsible for the “progressive peace movement”. He owns Pelosi and all the other hippie leftovers that compose the political wing of your movement. Soros, Jane Fonda, Peter Lewis, and Richard Bing have contributed almost three hundred million dollars to various Left wing NGO’s. Soros was responsible for the current policy of allowing NGO’s to advise the UN on various issues.  The shadow party of Soros and 68 others are dedicated to the destruction of America. The purchasing of the Democratic Party after 2000 enables these die hard Marxists to hide Socialism behind empty promises of Democracy and protection of Civil Rights.

Socialism requires the disarming of the populace, supression of free speech, supression of religious freedom, and the destruction of private property rights. Civil war is the obvious conclusion to this attempt by liberal elitists to control the last true democracy.

Ahh ... the S word: Socialism.

Canada is regarded as a socialist country by many people but perhaps not by a strict, or die hard Marxist, definition of socialism.

While we enjoy many social programs, such as universal healthcare, that our American friends do not, we do not have a state planned economy which some would insist is a necessary condition to fit a strict definition of socialism.

But we do have guns, free speech, religious freedom and private property despite our socialist tendencies.

Socialism ... try it (the watered down Canadian version at least).
    You might like it, Texas.

Oh yeah ... impeach away. Justice requires it.
My encouragement to people who work towards it.

Canada Posted by David in Canuckistan on Dec 17, 2006 at 7:28 PM

I’ve felt that impeachment should be a threat to possibly use, but to keep in the back pocket if Bush cooperates and doesn’t veto Congressional legislation. The trump card if Bush starts vetoing or issues signing statements on bills (that should be outlawed).

Texasindependent doesn’t even recognize socialism in own country now. For instance, in the last federal energy bill, billions were handed out to the oil companies. It wasn’t so many months later that Exxon CEO Lee Raymond retired with a $400 million parachute. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that the taxpayers basically socialized his retirement. Socialism for the rich, it’s been going on for decades.

The Progressive Caucus is not even a socialist group, much less a Marxist group. Those are just terms of abuse that rightist pinheads
like you throw to stop the conversation.
DSA NEVER funded the progressive caucus and no longer exists,
they long since merged with the Committes of Correspondence,
a group that has even less influence on Congress.
Socialism does not repress religion and civil liberties as the examples
    of western Europe prove.
Soros is a liberal, not a Marxist or even watered down socialist.
He doesn’t own Pelosi or anyone else in Congress.
Next time post some refs for your asinine assertions.
Most Americans including Republicans favor gun control (not abolition.)

Tex, Nancy and the other Jews could not do a worse job than Bu$hco, no matter how they got into the white house, even if the Supreme Court does not choose them, they could not fail our country worse than the current bunch of crooks, and there is NO disputing that, so fear not, no matter who gets in or how, they could not be bigger crooks than the current bunch of warmongers....

Aloha, you are absolutely right. Bush is the bottom of any barrel.

Bush is the bottom of any barrel
and the rotten apple spoiling the whole barrel.
