I believe the Democrat’s best ticket would be an Edwards Kucinich ticket, or vice versa. These two gentleman seem to be on the right track. It is about time democrats stand up and fight back. And I would very much like to see a Secretary of Defense by the name of Gen. Wesley Clark.

but he’s never going to go anywhere. the party apparatchiks would never allow it. Maybe in a few years we’ll get to see a senator or governor kucinich, but even that seems overly optimistic

It’s because the corporate media control the electoral process. In the primaries it’s framed as a beauty pageant. In the general, it’s a horse race. Issues are not allowed to enter the discussion. For most working people who, if reasonably informed, would gladly vote for Kucinich, there isn’t the time to research and familiarize themselves with the complexities that we who are political junkies obsess. They are totally dependent on what they see on TV.
I’ve met Dennis and he’s as modest and self-effacing an individual as they come. He’d make a fabulous president.

Of course, unlike Kucinich, Brownback is a newbie to the presidential contest and there are not media darlings on the Republican side to drown out other candidates.
Dennis Kucinich’s campaign web site has a long list of issues listed on it. The list is more extensive than any other candidate’s, but it also seems to have been pulled in large part from the 2004 campaign web site. That made it easy to compile and insert into the new site, no doubt.
The answer in this In These Times interview to other issues that are not war-related was very weak. Just to talk about city issues when many Americans want smaller towns, or at least to live within their own small suburb of a metropolis, raises concerns. Rural Iowa is struggling for jobs while the Main Street program gives money to build high-priced living units in the rural communities as a sign of economic improvement. We also have a new farm bill being discussed in Congress now. The farm bill will help decide the type and quality of food we have that is locally-grown; it will determine how much pollution from agricultural run-off goes into our waterways…where is Kucinich’s position on this pressing item?
