Mining Roves Katrina Legacy

Rove was the man President Bush quietly put in charge of overseeing the administration’s response plan, though he had no expertise in homeland security or disaster relief

By Amanda Terkel

Karl Rove isn’t called a “mastermind” for nothing. He announced his resignation at the perfect time—right before the second anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, which hit the Gulf Coast on Aug. 29, 2005. The media talked about his role in the CIA leak investigation, the U.S. attorney scandal, GOP election victories (and failures), and the Iraq war—all important topics. But they largely… return to article

There seem’s to be quite a bounty of megalomen from Texas.  Maybe it’s the oil, maybe it was J.R. Ewing.  But even before him there was Frank Lorenzo.  It’s a bit disconcerting, that this state that use to be it’s own country, and has produced the likes of Delay and Bush, has half of the nation’s plutonium buried at Armarillo.  (aprox. 32 TONS)  Should Texas seceed from the nation, they have the oil refineries, this trump card de nuclear, and the gall to do so.  Delay and Rove could be the first Czar and Rasputin.

    juangault,

Thanks for the comment. Agreed, there are quite a few Bush friends from Texas, but they are largely dropping off. Gonzales’s resignation today marked the departure of one of the last remaining Texas posse—Dan Bartlett, Harriet Miers, etc. Karen Hughes is still around, but she’s at the State Department. One of the few people left is Clay Johnson, who, perhaps not surprisingly, is being discussed as the next DHS Secretary (if Chertoff takes the AG job).

The rage from a lack of justice could very well spill over and afflict completely innocent people.  Remember the image at the beginning of the Rodney King riots with the white truck driver, at the wrong place and wrong time?

Looks like we’re going to have a century of dynasty in this decaying carcass of a nation.  I’d vote for Laura if she could somehow get W to close the trunk of her car on his tie right before she took a long road trip across Tejas.  I think the Republicans deserve another 30 yr hiatus for their indiscretion of dancing with the Texmanian Devils.
