    Taxes on cigarettes will go up to a dollar a pack (if the legislation passes). This will primarily benefit the poor, who will be less able to afford their nasty habit. Not to mention the funds will be used to pay for children’s health care. A winner all around.

    There’s more of a stigma associated with smoking and it’s not as socially acceptable as drinking is.
    This new tax won’t have too much effect on deterring ppl from smoking,those addicted will continue to smoke and the Govt. will be reaping a sh!tload of money .If anything it will cause a black market on tobacco .
