The situation is not different in the Niger Delta, Nigeria, where companies and operators of marine vessels cast to the wind good environmental practice. They pollute the sea and endanger marine life and livilihood of communities’ people who depend on the sea to make a living.
It is also sad that oil companies are already dragging their feet on enforcing and meeting the deadline to stop gas flairing in 2008.The government seems incapacitated to take a drastic action. But it remains true that the more harm done to the environment the more the potency of the people’s lives reduces.
