We are grateful that this story is getting the press coverage it is. I just want to clarify that Eastern Mennonite University is located in Harrisonburg, Va., not Harrisburg, Pa. We are a small Christian liberal arts university. We offer an undergrad program that prepares students to live in a global context with required cross-cultural study, a graduate program in conflict transformation, trauma healing workshops and a Summer Peacebuilding Institute out of our Center for Justice and Peacebuilding. Many denominations and faiths are represented on our campus. See more at our website, www.emu.edu.
I am all for conversation at any level and people to people is the best sort of sharing experience,I think. I don’t trust governmental discussions as much simply because governments have their own agendas ,which are often powered by big business.
I grew up hating communist, mostly the soviets.I have since that time learned that almost all people are just like us.They only want jobs, food,a better life for their children and peace.I was brainwashed by the popular progaganda of the times. We need to have dialogue with other people to learn what they are like and visa versa.Peace is what we all need and want.
