    This smells ripe of US involvement at some point.  It would be interesting to investigate if the US had any involvement to this man’s rising to power as been the case with many, if not most of the despots who found their way to power in Central and South America.

    Ted- Sorry to say.But you ain’t getting any investigation out of this. Bush and ilk run from everything and anything. Heard about the latest CIA leak?! We now know that Tonkin resolution was a L-I-E! We now know the “intel” on iraq was a L-I-E. (oh goody george- nukes are where? bioligical where? killing people where? way to go cowboy shmboy).

    the us should back selfdefeating butt out of the rest of the nations- particularly here. if nobody has been to argentina, costa rica, brazil, etc.- you should go. amazing, amazing places. beautiful. beaches, mountains (argentina? the best!).
    Let’s do our bit to help keep this dictator in his shed. Guatemala will survive with everybody’s help.

    Indeed, the guatemalan dictatorship which led to more than a hundred thousand killings and disappearances was incited by the CIA, as is well known, because the then democratically elected government was toying with plans to give land which belonged to an Amercian fruit company back to the indiginous population.
