One early July morning in Austin, Texas, I sat slumped in a cavernous, featureless conference hall on the last day of Netroots Nation, the annual gathering of progressive bloggers. Half the attendees had already split town. Two days of events and two nights of vigorous [RETURN TO ARTICLE]

Does Al Gore really believe Chicago is directly below a Sun Spot? http://stopthepresses2.blogspot.com/2008/12/al-gore-sun-spot-throws-chicago-into.html
Here we go again.
In 1964, over 80% of Black children lived in two-parent family units. Now less than one-third of Black children live with two parents. This is a tremendous change, with devastating social costs in broken families, crime, drug use, and social pathology. What happened?
LBJ’s Great Society and the War on Poverty (WoP) happened, that’s what. The War on Poverty paid poor women to get rid of the men in their lives, and cost $6 trillion over a thirty-year period, until it was terminated as a bad job.
Then during the Carter Administration, the Democrats passed the Community Reinvestment Act 1977 that required mortgages be given to unqualified borrowers. This fell far short of the damage done by the WoP, so President Clinton made it mandatory, under penalty of law, that mortgages be given to unqualified borrowers, and allowed those bad mortgages to be packaged and sold as high-quality investments. The cost of this latest Democratic boondoggle is about $1 trillion, but it caught the markets by surprise just as a Marxist was being seriously considered as president, and the resulting panic led to a worldwide markets meltdown, $30 trillion and counting.
So, after two major costly, wasteful, ignorant social engineering projects, the Marxists are now peddling global warming/change/cooling, depending on next week’s weather report. Global warmingchange/cooling will have a price tag that will absolutely dwarf every other expensive, wasteful Democratic program, and will produce even fewer useable results than WoP.
At some point, sufficient numbers of voters will realize that the Democrats’ objective is to spend your money for their benefit. Until then, we muddle through Marxist inefficiency and corruption.
