Ignored by “Bush’s Brain,” activists take the fight to his home

By Tracy Van Slyke

On a quiet Sunday afternoon in late March, more than a dozen yellow school buses crept up the street of a high-end Washington, D.C. neighborhood and parked in front of the home of Karl “Bush’s Brain” Rove, senior policy advisor to President Bush. Members of National People’s Action (NPA), a national coalition of community organizations, poured onto Rove’s lawn demanding… return to article

“Who’s on your hit list, NPA?
Who’s on your hit list for today?
Take no prisoner, take no names.
Kick ‘em in the (a--) when they play their games!”

You should have at least published their idiotic chant Tracy.

You also forgot to mention that they were pounding on his windows while they trespassed on his home.

Do you also think it is astonishingly pathetic that they drag school children with them in their “direct action campaigns”? Maybe they could try to influence policy like, I don’t know, adults?

It’s disgusting when Pro-Lifers publish the home addresses of abortion providers. Same concept here. This is a pretty ugly road to go down for both sides.

Also, why not list their website in your article? It’s “http://www.npa-us.org/”. For those interested. I particularly liked the “neighborhood safety” section. That was funny.

    Hey, Karl-
    You spelled your name wrong.
It’s “K-A-R-L” not “T-Y”, and and a very weak and negative attempt at spin!

The world would be better off without Karl Rove.

DREAM sounds interesting, but I wonder:  How about in-state tuition for EVERYBODY, not just immigrants’ children?  And would my children be eligible for free tuition if we were immigrants in any other country?

United States Posted by Annette Bork on Apr 14, 2004 at 2:13 PM

Immigrant’s are not asking for FREE tuition. Just instate tuition. Many states do not allow immigrant children to attend college at all because they do not have a social security number. There children graduating with honors with no opportunity to go to college. Without this hope of more education many children give up and drop out of high school altogether.

I believe it is better for all to allow all those who qualify to attend college.

It’s ironic that this man [whose policies have disadvantaged more children since Herbert Hoover] happens to be upset that his own little ones are disturbed.

Tell him to explain himself to the 25% of children who grow up in this nation under the poverty level, and what the Bush administration is doing to help them. . . Their windows get shot out of the frames every day, and Mr. Rove’s answer for the economy they are growing into is to privatize social security and lower taxes for those who make over $200,000 a year.

    Screw that asshole. Great story.

He has children? Who F@#ked that lard ass? He looks like Paul from Cheers in that pic.

These are times that require more and more exercise of our right to free speech and dissent, BUT also times that are so fragile that protestors (and commentators in here) need to be careful not to violate the rights of those protested against (knocking on windows) nor use obscenities.  We shouldn’t become like those against whom we protest! That only dilutes and illegitimizes the protest. Anger can be managed without being repressed and is then much more effective in achieving results. Thanks to this site for making this protest more widely known, however.

    Wow,

Look, I don’t like George Bush OR Karl Rove, but this was ridiculous. That was HIS property, NOT public property. I would’ve had those NPA people arrested!

Besides, I am sick and tired of people in this country thinking only about foreigners! Why don’t we pay tuition for American Citizens!? Why does everybody feel like they are entitled to something from the government? I am whole-heartedly against DREAM and hope honest working CITIZENS are too!

This is an excellentstory. It is a pity stories like these don’t make it to the city newspapers..

This is like Jewish people in Nazi Germany asking Heinrich Himler if he’s interested in the education of their children. I can’t believe how stupid people are sometimes.
