Forget Marriage—Civil Unions For All

By Terry J. Allen

I believe fervently in the sanctity of marriage, and if you do, too, head immediately to your closest church, mosque, synagogue or flying spaghetti monster chapel, and sign up to procreate, cohabitate and copulate with a sex partner blessed by that holy institution. But pass city hall and do not collect $200 in tax breaks. In fact, given the intrinsic rewards… return to article

Amen Sister!  I am a devoted Christian who also takes a very libertarian view of government’s role in society.  I came to the same conclusion as you, but you’ve expressed it much better.

I can’t *wait* for you enlightened folks to draft future legislation so a woman can divorce her husband… and his other 2 wives… and still retain her rights, children, and property under community property laws (all across state lines).

Throw out a thousands-year-old tradition spanning civilizations, and that is exactly what you will get. (Suddenly after millenia we somehow just “know better”—yeah, right.)

(It goes like this: “Who says marriage or unions are only between TWO people? Who are *you* to say, if they luv each other?”)

Our side was right all along, wasn’t it, when we said gays wanted to “destroy” what they now snidely call “quote-unquote marriage” and mock religion. In the past, they lied and said that wasn’t so—they just wanted equality. (Read the tone of that article again if you missed that.)

I think some of you actually are praying to a flying spaghetti monster. The only consolation is, if you get your wish, you will be trying to procreate in expensive laboratories, instead of in bed, under a system of government-run health care. That’ll put a little crimp in your family planning, won’t it?

Gee, life will be so complicated in our future science-fiction world…!
