Total Information Control

By Joel Bleifuss

“Size of protest—it’s like deciding, well, I’m going to decide policy based upon a focus group,” said George W. Bush, trying to dismiss the millions of demonstrators who took to the streets on February 15 to protest the administration’s plans for war with Iraq. Bush said what he did, no doubt, because White House strategist Karl Rove had discovered through… return to article

The Truth of Bush’s real intentions is total political hegemony backed by control of world oil supplies enforced by perpetual warfare. This approach was perfected by A. Hitler.

It is very unfortunate that big brother has rendered the US populace uninformed.  People cannot make an informed choice if they do not have access to all sides of the story.  I find everything about this administration abhorable.  This is very much the end of a great country.  The founding fathers would be ashamed of what we have done.

I’m sure most people in the US have heard about how our government is originally responsible for arming Saddam and creating the military power in Iraq prior to the first Gulf War.  What I find interesting, is that more people don’t take this into consideration when understanding why the US government insists Iraq still has chemical and biological weapons… We probably gave them the supplies and technology, or at least were aware of what they had at one time, and now we are faced with the task of proving that without implicating ourselves!  Farfetched?  I don’t think so…

Has anyone else heard that bush/sheney are going to try and delay the next election until the war is over?

United States Posted by Gail on Mar 14, 2003 at 10:46 AM

In response to Rocktime.....actually, most complacent, ambivalent, deaf and blind Americans have NOT heard how the U.S. supplied Iraq with her military power.....nor do they care.  As for this Editorial.....well written, hitting the nail on the head....Good-bye America, we hardly knew ye

I am really getting fed up with the criticism of Actors, The French and our own people in America that protest against the war. Why is it Americans think the only ones entitled to freedom of speech are Americans? Not that Americans have that much freedom of speech right now either. I grew up during the Viet Nam war and I remember the protests from that time and I also remember how these people were called Un American and the turned out to be right after all. If you do not allow freedom of speech in a Democracy then is it a Democracy at all? If you do not have freedom of the press do we have a Democracy? If I feel it is Un American to speak my mind on how I feel is this a Democracy? How we proceed in the next few months will be a reality lesson about Democracy we are teaching our children. But are we teaching them what a Democracy is by censoring other countries and our own people?
I’ll tell you one thing I think if I am allowed to speak, we haven’t come all that far in the past 50 years in this civilization. And I don’t mean this as praise. Next time you disagree with someone and wish to express yourself—think about it do we live in a Democracy here or not? Are we going to be “ALLOWED” to speak our minds? I really do not like what I see going on in the US today. I will speak up and I will be heard and that is as American as you can be. I am going out to get some FRENCH fries where freedom still exists.

the phrase “total war” is a reference to Karl von Clauswitz, the Prussian millitary theorist who’s ideas are the esential basis for all modern millitaries.

does anyone know if the alternative media plan to counter act the controlled media coverage? How?

United States Posted by greywolf on Mar 18, 2003 at 1:42 PM

Unfortunately, this is not new and the primary challenge to overcome.  These wars wouldn’t happen without a monopoly of information dissemination.  The internet is beginning to turn the tide, whether it seems like it or not, and the hyprocrites won’t survive in the new competitive environment.

Exellent illustration of the way the pentagon manipulates the news.  Hitler was an idiot, he didn’t have the media control that these guys have.

High-five to ya, Sherry from Santa Rosa, I’m going to go out and get some French vanilla ice cream.

Ok, here is the task, clearer it could not be. We MUST find the smoking guns linking these guys to the global domination and take over of constitution they are attempting. Bill Moyers is one of last independent reporters, go through him. If this goes much further, resulting Destabilization/wars will polarize public and we will melt down like Germany did under Hitler. Yes, it is THAT important.  Join, work, we CAN remake this madness, and we MUST.

God on you Sheri. A lot of people have forgotten what true democracy is. We live in a world where two out of three of the “willing” nations waging war on Iraq, are being led by governments elected fraudulently. That is not democracy. As I understand it, the freedom of speech is a major tenet of the American democracy. Democratus - the people.

So it has begun, the war of world conquest.  Being the mightiest, most well-trained and equipped military in the world will most likely lead us to the brink of total domination.  The people will cheer and slap each other on the back with pride, just as they did in Rome, in Britain, in the Soviet Union, in Nazi Germany, and all the other once seemingly invincible and brutal empires of history.  Even those who once spoke disparagingly of this quest for world dominance will secretly thrill and swell with pride that their Country has accomplished the modern equivalent of what Alexander acheived, but of course based on the Magellean concept of finite global dimensions.  Who knows, if something unforseeable doesn’t stand in our way, this domination will last for the thousand years Hitler envisioned his would.  But, as with all human endeavor, if human beings cannot cast it aside, the laws of the Universe surely will.  Well, then, so it must ever be for the short-sighted and avaricious.  All human vanity is levelled by the grave.  So it is too with Empires.  The seed of their own demise is born with thier nativity and no amount of human cloning or other scientific or technological remedies will be able to change that.  If this is fine for many let them live in denial.  Ah, but sleep they must and in dreams the presentiment of inevitabilities and destruction is as powerful as that of choices and creativity.  The will to control means but one thing-fear of the unknown and unpredictable in the other.  If that is life for them, then let them live the lie of death.  The die is cast.  Now they have become slaves of their own ambitions and must reap whatever their seeds of death have sown down through all the coming generations of thier own.
