The Employee Free Choice Act is sorely needed by all workers, especially those in low wage industries such as hospitality, security and nursing home.

When I hear right wingers brag about how “free” we are in this country, I always respond with: Yes, we are free. Free to work for low wages, free to not have any on the job justice and if it were up to the bosses we would be free to work for FREE!

It appears that passage of EFCA will not occur any time soon. So much for campaign promises of making “Change”!

The security guards should consider themselves blessed that SEIU will not back them. Getting “backed” by SEIU is more like taking it in the back!

If the bosses will not recognize the union, perhaps the guards need to begin using creative job actions such as everyone taking a break at the same time, striking for just one day, etc

Whether the law protects these workers should NOT be the focus of the campaign! The fact is international law recognizes worker’s right to organize and it appears that these guards have indicated their desire to organize! Now it’s up to them to show that they are truly serious. All of organized labor in Phildadelphia should get behind these guards and assist them in securing justice on the job! It’s the right thing to do!
