    A world free of nuclear weapons is not going to happen. The technology to make the weapons can’t be “unlearned,” and the weapons assume great geopolitical purpose for those that possess them.

    I fear you’re right.  It’s a thought provoking article - but it does give rather a sense of futility.  I can understand that it’s important to start the climb but the overriding sense is that nuclear prolification is only going to be slowed down at best.

    I wonder how many less states would seek nuclear armament if the big players relinquished theirs?  The thought of disarming would have been unthinkable to me years ago - but now it seems to make more sense to me as I get older.
