The USA’s breath has been blowing on us, Latin Americans’ necks for too long. THey were always behind every coup d’etat which overthrew popular governments elected by the people, with the consent of local elites. In Argentina, I can mention Peron, Frondizi, Illia as true examples of this. But, as a Spanish saying goes: “El que a hierro mata, a hierro muere” and I feel USA has created its own monsters which are ruling behind the throne, and showing no respect or mercy for their own dissidents. A country which devotes so much money to support armies, weapon manufacturers, laboratories which create both illnesses and drugs, spies all over the world, and has forgotten elementary things such as care of Nature, respect for others, and is constantly spreading outright lies through the media, is a menace to its own people. We have long lost admiration for the “American Way of Life” and consider them for what they truly are.

No doubt Chomsky will be supporting Barack Obama for re-election just as he supported Obama the first time around.
Chomsky has chided socialism as an alternative to Wall Street’s capitalism in favor of some kind of ridiculous form of anarchism which can not possibly challenge imperialism unless one thinks that breaking the windows of the Bank of America is sufficient.
Anyone can see what Wall Street’s U.S. foreign means for other countries but Chomsky remains loathe to accept socialism as an alternative here in the U.S. A.
Why doesn’t Chomsky and his pals in the “Progressives for Obama” go tell Barack Obama to finance free public health care centers across the United States instead of building more military bases all over the world?

As it is usually done, the main point of this article has been twisted so that it lost all meaning.
The savage capitalism system has led the world to the dangerous situation it is in now, and I am afraid major surgery is needed. Unfortunately, I see the USA, which was its promoter and leader is looking at its own navel, as usual, and the average citizen prefers to go about their own private businesses and interests rather than accept their share of responsibility in what their country, in their name, are doing to the rest of the world.

The ultimate responsibility for Latin America’s violence lies with U.S. consumers of illegal drugs, the US really need to fix the problem from within their own country. If you cut of the demand then the suppliers go out of business.
