The author probably means that the Marcellus Shale holds 20 years of the country’s natural gas usage, not 2 years. In 2008, 23.8 trillion cubic feet was used in the US and the Marcellus holds an estimated 500 trillion cubic feet.
Excellent journalism and a really important topic. As the financial crunch gets worse, who can blame people for giving in, sooner or later, to get the chunk of cash? The more people know about the possibly deadly results, the better for us all.
