A brilliant new book redraws Gazan history.

“Zionist apologists have demonstrated that they are quite willing to slander anyone who have dares to question their narrative, from Rachel Corrie to Judge Goldstone.”

This may be true but it is becoming less and less common. Those who play the “anti-semitism” card against anyone who makes even the most modest criticism of Israel are becoming increasingly rare and less influential. I do not believe they will ultimately prevail.

Many Jews now find themselves criticizing Israel, opposing the current Israeli government and calling for an end to the current illegal occupation of Palestinian lands. There are many soldiers and Airforce pilots in Israel who have refused service in the occupied territories, some who have served long prison sentences as a consequence. This may be cold comfort for the Palestinians, but Jewish dissenters are doing more and more to achieve justice. It might also be noted that immediately after news of Rachel Cory’s death in Gaza, Jewish peace groups staged large protest vigils at Catepillar HQ in Peoria, Illinois on her behalf and on behalf of the movement to end the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza.

I think change will come soon. More and more people are becoming committed to making it happen.
