Is it true there were more DEMOCRATS in the Senate who voted against funding the Gitmo closure than Republican?

In answer to your question, no. The vote in the Senate was 90 to 6. All those favoring the funding were Democrats. The majority of the Senate are Democrats so perhaps more Democrats actually did oppose the bill funding the transfer of GITMO detainees than did Republicans. This is misleading however, given the Democratic majority in the Senate. In any case, it was an embarrassing moment for Obama who campaigned on the promise to close GITMO.
