Halliburton’s Axis of Influence

By Frida Berrigan

Is Dick Cheney still on Halliburton’s payroll? Even though he supposedly sold off his assets when he moved to Washington, the vice president’s financial records reveal he is receiving between $100,000 and $1 million in “deferred compensation” from the company where he served as CEO for five years. The payment is not a bonus for a job well done: Cheney… return to article

Your observations are undoubtedly correct. Living for several years amongst the oil-exploration-community in Central Asia (in particular Azerbaijan) opened my eyes for me in this respect. My only surprise is that so few people have been commenting on Mr. Cheney / Halliburton’s huge, direct and obvious advantage from the propagation of the so-called ‘War on Terror’ and in particular from the assault on Iraq.

Incidently, some serious further reading on this and a number of related issues can be found on www.deoxy.org/wc/wc-toc.htm - a Report on the US War Crimes Against Iraq / the International War Crimes Tribunal. Interested readers may see the US Consiracy that was the direct cause behind the Kuwait crisis 13 years ago - and the 19 charges of War Crimes levelled directly against Mr. Richard Cheney (and Mr. Bush senior and other high level members of his administration), long before his ‘disposal’ of Halliburton assets. Interestingly Mr Cheney et al were found guilty on all 19 charges by the International War Crimes Tribunal.....but little more has been heard of it since.

An excellent story which highlights the unfolding tragedy of Iraq and the influence of the neo-conservative Expansion of Empire ideology upon George W. Bush.  Mr. Bush will follow in his father’s footsteps as a one term president after he is met in the Republican Presidential primaries by Ron Paul (R-TX) and then Governor Howard Dean of Vermont in the general election.  Take it to the bank.

Ultimately we will see everybody in administration will accuse each other and back fight each other on the failures of this war. this is already started.

I just want to say thank you to Alexandra for that fascinating history lesson on the real masters behind the puppets. It’s really sad to see how truly powerful greed is. It is also very scary when you realize that your country in run by a group of sociopaths.
    Thanks for the light…

This is the first time I have read “In These Times.” Thank you for the interesting article about Cheney and his cohorts. Unfortunately I am not surprised, just disappointed!

I am appalled but not suprised by these numbers. What can we do to make sure the money for our taxes does not go to fund this war when all of the benefits will go out to private companies!!! This is an impeachable offense.

Great work Frida.  It’s extremely dissapointing however on the lack of coverage over these issues from our mainstream media.  Where is the investigative reporting?  Watergate was 30 years ago.  Right now we have strong evidence that Americans and much of the world is being besieged.  Yet our media ignores this strong evidence.  I’m sure most of you have seen the movie “The Insider”, well if we have a media that’s afraid to take on Tobacco Companies then how and the hell can we expect our puppet programers to take on Oil Companies?  People please stop voting for silver spoon fed monkeys such as Bush.  Vote for real people like yourself or at least someone that doesn’t have a long history as a Big Business supporter or Big Business himself.  Please people get involved, vote, lets rid our government of corporate junkies.

How long can this Bush administration continue to openly and blatantly flaunt their disregard for the well being of our country before the people say “enough is enough!”

Let’s see… Cheney is an “ex” CEO of Haliburton, still receives a paycheck from them and then our government gives them humongous contract all related to a war or wars that should not be or never been fought - and the politicians and major media stay silent? It’s a sad time in America.

Like the others, I’m not surprised. I think the wormhole goes far deeper in al directions, on most global matters. personally. I think people should refuse to vote, at all. and force an ENTIRE new economic structure (there is one that is being held back, but I can’t remember the name, but it rids US of national debt.) and en entire new convernment structure. personally. I would say the whole world is manipulated by control-freaks, and corporations. I think citizens should assume responability.
