By Adam Werbach

Each of the Democratic candidates would do a superior job to President Bush at stewarding the environment. But will they get the chance? Polls show that while Americans care deeply about the environment, it’s far below their top priorities: job creation and the economy. Democrats would be smart to talk about clean energy investments leading to good union jobs. Here’s an… return to article

Your remarks regarding Senator Kerry and his opposition to the Cape Wind Project in Massachusetts are inaccurate.  The proposed placement of that offshore wind farm was smack dab in the middle of the most significant sea duck and loon migration corridors.  Wind farms are generally quite a hazard to resident and migratory species of bats and birds, especially birds of prey.  There is currently no regulation in place to ensure that placement of wind farms do not kill large number of birds or bats.  Some of the recent farms on ridgetops in the SE have the highest animal kill rates of any wind farms in the country.  This not a simply solution to energy concerns in this country or the world.
