Posted by hslothrop on Apr 21, 2004 at 5:07 PM This may be an uneducated comment, but it seems to me that feminism is, or should be, a movement that attempts to bring equality to humans of (previously “both”, now I suppose “all”) genders. Feminism should not be reverse sexism, a movement to benefit only women, and as such including trans women should not be a problem. Additionally, women of color should have the same rights, trans men should have the same rights, etc etc. This is a movement for equality.

The question is not, “What group’s rights should we work to uphold?”, it is, “What shall we do to make sure everyone’s rights are upheld?” I think about it like this, admittedly a bit belligerent in tone: “Who the hell thinks they’ll get away with blocking my access to happiness, advancement, fulfillment, love, education, or employment? They must be looking for a fight!” (And of course they are, as anti-gay, anti-TG violence proves).
