The problem is that several of those who are best known in activists circles, such people as Doug Rokke and Leuren Moret, spread false information about depleted uranium. For example, Doug Rokke, in various Internet interviews, has claimed that 30 co-workers died with the implication being that they died of depleted uranium. The military investigated that claim and found that only one had died and he had not worked with depleted uranium. There is no doubt that Rokke made the claim as it is on many internet interviews. But Rokke refuses to provide any supporting evidence. He could perhaps refute the …

Pale Rider, You repeat Doug Rokke's claim that 30 to 40 percent of "his" cleanup crew are now dead. Ask him for a list of names of those dead. He won't give it to you. That claim is false as is much of what he claims. Rokke did not have a cleanup crew, by the way. He was a minor player in the cleanup effort. The military says Rokke's claim is false and they say this after investigating the specifics of his claim. Rokke does not provide evidence to support his version as one might expect if he were telling the …

A medieval physician made the following statement that is still true and applies to depleted uranium and every other poison: "Everything is a poison and nothing is a poison. The poison is in the dose." -- Paracelus, an early medical pioneer What is important is not whether uranium is a poison, it certainly is a mild poison. What is important is the dose. We all have uranium in our bodies, every one of us. The important question for health effects is how much there is. There is no evidence that depleted uranium is hurting anyone.

Pale Rider, In the claim by Doug Rokke that 30 members of "his" team are dead, there is a very stark contradiction with the government information. Rokke could score a coup against the military position by proving that his claim is correct. 30 dead soldiers, whose names apparently were known to Rokke (if his claim is correct) are mighty difficult to cover up. That means 30 families who can talk to us about the deaths of their loved ones. If 30 people died from depleted uranium, as Rokke alleges, it should not be so difficult for us to talk to them. …

    >>>>>>Right--now deal with the issue at hand. Namely, sworn testimony before members of the British parliament about the dangers to DU and threats to their own people. <<<<<<<<<<<<<< I am a scientist myself with 25 years experience on dealing with radioactive materials. I have yet to see credible evidence that depleted uranium is a serioius problem. A minor problem yes, but not one that is causing birth defects or cancer.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>If Rokke and Morett are engaged in Fabrication and Lie as you allege. Fabrication and Lie that does damage to the effort to prosecute the so-called “War on Terrorism” Do you not think for a moment that they would be charged and brought to the dock by the DOD, proponents for the use of DU? <<<<<<<<< Not at all. On what charges would they be tried? They could not be brought to trial on anything they have said because the country has freedom of expression. Even lies, if they are not done with malice, are protected free speech. Even the Patriot …

I noticed a curious coincidence about David Lindorff and Doug Rokke. I have been in touch with Doug Rokke for a couple of years by email, where he uses the user name dlind49. That is remarkably similar to the username of dlindorff who according to his post on this thread is the David Lindorff who wrote the article that started this thread. Could it be that David Lindorff and Doug Rokke are one and the same?
