Big government is dangerous Left or RIght. The only response I can offer is if the European Powers had stopped Hitler when he began re-arming Germany, WWII would have never happened. The state, local, and federal government's response to a disaster the scale of Katrina was at best shoddy and at worst criminal. The implications of a nuclear or chemical attack on an American city are too horrific to imagine. The panic alone would kill thousands.
