This issue is kind of irrelevant compared to Starbucks' contribution to global poverty. Only something like 5-10 percent of the coffee Starbucks buys is Fair Trade. The company is paying many farmers next to nothing for their hard strenuous labor. And we pay $2.50 for a cup of coffee, the baristas are unionizing and this corporation only gets bigger. How about we stop drinking Starbucks, stop working there and support and work at Fair Trade coffee shops? Watch the documentary Black Gold, from Independent Lens. Please, In These Times, figure out your reporting and advocacy priorities.
