Republicans: A Threat to the Republic? Since a republic is "a state in which the supreme power rests in the body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by representatives chosen directly or indirectly by them" and Obama wants to nationalize every act of commerce and descisionmaking, I would say that the Republicians are the last ones anyone should worry about in terms of maintaining the "Republic".
