"Odds are good that Romney will rue the day he took credit for this bill." Although this statement might turn out to be true, how many politicians, whether Republican or Democrat, are doing anything at all to deal with the health insurance problem? Although this legislation may have its faults, it can serve as an example of what to do or not do for states as well as the federal government when tackling this issue in the future.

-"Cannabis, Mushies and LSD, in fact all the Hallucinogenics are given a clean bill of health as far as harming physically or Psychologically." That's a tad short-sighted. Smoking weed definitely has harming effects: atmotivational syndrome, repiratory disease, and impaired perception. LSD causes flashbacks, though usually mild and short in duration. Also, there is always the potential for harmful effects that haven't been documented for lack of sufficient research. However, I'm all for using these drugs. The user simply needs to be informed and responsible, NOT worried about doing crazy time in jail simply for wanting to experience a change in perception. …

Wolf - You make a very interesting point. As can be seen with the Supreme Court cases involving race based affirmative action in higher education admissions decisions of the last couple of years, race can no longer be a reason for giving a boost to minorities. However, a socio-economic based AA policy, aimed at giving the poor a little aid, whether they be white or black, is the fairest way to give help to those that need it. al-Dakari: You speak of a separate class of working class human beings as, in effect, the means of production. I agree that 'we' as in human beings should stop separating ourselves. The United States has to stop creating an imaginary evil 'other' as it has with the Iraqis and as it did with the Vietnamese. However, separating ourselves as human beings into the working class, you essentially create an evil other, the bourgeoisie, and so you are doing exactly what the United States has been doing with Iraq. It will lead to more conflicts and more wars. Until 'we' means human …

"Genetically, all humans are essentially the same. However in our world there are two classes whose selfish interests are diametrically opposed to each other. I’m not inventing an evil “other”; this is reality. I dont believe that humans in our present world can act in a utopian, selfless, KUMBAYA way. But Im not as pessimistic as you are." -I couldn't agree more. My point was that there will always be an 'us' and a 'they' who are in conflict. Global solidarity of a single class cannot be achieved, but it's an ideal worth having faith in. "To create a world in …
