Why don't magazine writers have to cite their sources? I'd love to know from where some of these statistics were taken. One of the most egregious errors: mining is not "the second most perilous sector of the economy." According to the 2004 Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (conducted by the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics), Construction, Transportation, Agriculture, Manufacturing, and Wholesale Trade have more (in some cases nearly 10 times more) fatalities annually than Mining does.
