What repulses me about Joe Liebermann is his blatant capitulation to the Religious Right and pandering to the willfully ignorant. His statement that freedom of religion does not mean freedom from religion is a bold-faced lie. It means EXACTLY that and he knows it. Unfortunately, he feels he must appeal to a constituency (as do most other politicians) that conflate pedestrian sentimentality with ethics and morals.
