As a librarian in a town with a Borders and a Barnes & Noble I can tell you that they do not donate books to us. Most of our donations come from our user population (some of which may be employees of these institutions). The most I can say is that B&N gives us a corporate discount, as they do with the schools and other institutions, I'm sure.
