He went into office with a Republican Senate (Howard Baker was majority leader for 4 years and Bob Dole for 2) and conservative House (many who gave Democrats a majority then became Republicans to give GOP control later). Reagan's economics degree was in economics that gave us the Great Depression and depressions of the 1840s, 1870s and 1890s.
