There is some truth to Cosby's rant - even if does unfairly single out people by race. Still, it implies that the poorer classes just aren't trying as hard as they should. Somehow the successful people deserve their success and the disenfranchised deserve their disenfranchisement. OK, not every disadvantaged youth stays that way, and not every privileged youth stays that way, but the percentages show that it is environment that affects this more than a person's character.
