    "It's OK as long as it's not in my back yard" is the way most environmental thought processes work. For instance, many (if not most) environmental decisions are made without considering the natural and rightful human position in the environment. Thus we have "saving the environment" decisions that never cost the decision makers or supporters anything because the impacts of those decisions are in someone else's back yard.
