Perhaps we should refocus our language to Humane Rights rather than Human Rights. Humane, to me, carries with it an inherent responsibility to act without bias, without prejudice, and without malice. Humane, to me, means that there is no superiority and no inferiority. If we act humanely, we act in accordance with our moral self.

Sorry I had to laugh while reading this article. If China can host the Olympics while occupying Tibet, ruthlessly putting down ANY opposition to its policies, relocate millions of people in order to build a stadium venue, crack down on free global communication, etc. then Chicago with its politicized police force is certainly a choir boy in comparison. Get over it - there is NO place on earth with an unblemished record of human rights advocacy that can host the Olympics. And if people still believe that the Olympics is a-political, then they have their heads where the sun don't shine. …

Bill Bill Bill. It's over. We don't want democracy. We want national security. We don't want the 4th Estate; we want the Panzer Unit. We don't want participatory politics; we want pablum. We don't want to ask questions; we want spiffy answers. We don't want analysis; we want sound bites. And we really don't want freedom of speech; we want the illusion of freedom. Too much responsibility involved in being free. "We don't want to work, we want to bang on our drums all day. . . "

Politicans are politicians. Why would anyone think Obama was any different?
