Prop 8/Cinemark theater protest

Saturday, November 22,
1715 Maple Ave., Evanston, IL

The Gay Liberation Network (GLN) is protesting Cinemark Company CEO Alan Stock’s donations totaling nearly $10,000 in support of California’s Proposition 8.

The protest will be held outside of Cinemark-owned Evanston Century 12 & Cinearts 6 movie theater in Evanston, Il. on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 5 p.m. The Century theater is located at 1715 Maple Ave, within walking distance of the “Davis” purple line El stop, and the “Davis St., Evanston” stop on Metra’s Union Pacific North line.

From GLN’s website:

“The owner of the Century is Cinemark Company, whose CEO, Alan Stock, gave nearly $10,000 to support Prop 8.

Please join us at 5 PM this next Saturday, Nov. 22 as we peacefully picket Century Theater located at 1715 Maple Street in Evanston (less than a block northwest of the “Davis” stop on the Purple Line el).

Help us inform Century Theater patrons about just who their money is supporting. Send a message to CEO Alan Stock that LGBT people will not sit idly by as victims, but will instead make haters like him pay a price for promoting discrimination.”
