Until palestinian muslims and israelis learn to integrate under one state, palestine is just two small to fit them both.  Sharons political solutions were like chipping away at a mountain with a plastic spoon.

I don’t agree with the former poster, and think that only two states are the best solution for both. They should devide historical Palestine in two and share their national freedon side by side/ The Arabs will gain the eastern part of Palestine, which means all the soil from Jordan river and east with Amman as their Capitol, and the Israelis should take the smallest past, fron the Jordan river and west to the sea.

Arabs should be the citizens of the Palestine-Jordan and vote for the Amman Parliament no matter were they sit. The Jews will vote for their Knesset of Jerusalem even those who live east to the Jordan river.

This kind of solution may brings calm on daily life there and then nature personal and economic cooperation which will strethen the ties between both.

As an honorary Israeli citizen (I worked there in the 70s), I have mixed reactions.  The Palistineans have been royally screwed, the Jews did indeed make the desert bloom and they confiscated the only land in that area with no oil (kinda funny, if you think about it).

As Thomas jefferson said about THEIR legacy, “Any country built from the confiscation of the land of others does not have a great future.” (I paraphrase.) Anyhow, it worried him, that my ancestors did a land grab, just as Paul Ravon, my lead engineer in TelAviv said was done to create Israel.
Just as Iraq will break up into natural boundaries when the civil war is over, so we can hope for Israel.  The Treaty of Versailles is probably the wickedest treaty ever, as it took 3 warring tribes and tried to weld them together.  The Brits found it wouldn’t work, and so are we.  The Brits gave it back in 1958 to the war lords they took Mesopatamia/Iraq from.
any country created artificially by outside forces is doomed.  (See Harper’s of a few years back.)

    Wuh-wuh-wuh-wuh-w-w-w-w--ell.....fuh-fuh-fuh-fuh-finally !!!  A r-r-r-r-r-really intell-ell-ell-ell-ell- igent que-que-que-que-quesshun !!!!

.....Sharon:  He should have been tossed a long time ago.
Sharon comes in and it’s intifada time for the past few years.

I personally don’t like terrorism--just too unpredictable, no?

I think that the Israeli’s should send buses into the West Bank and Gaza and haul all the Palestinians narrow asses out of the camps, rebuild them with two and three story semiattached homes.  Go door to door and pacify the whole crew.

Topple Hamas, and integrate the whole effing group into one nation, under all Gods.  This is the birthplace of Jewish, Christian and Moslem alike here, ...
....and to paraphrase Archie Bunker, “Geez, Meathead, can’t you see it’s bigger than you, me and Edith combined?”

So you hear the one about the Pope, the Rebbe and the Imam?  The 3 of them go to Jerusalem and the rest is history.

Hmmm.  Having worked in Israel during the 70s, let me allow Paul Ravon, the M.O.D.s lead software engineer:
“You Americans tickle me.  This was an out and out land grab by the U.N. in 1948....moving out the Palistineans who lived here, if they wouldn’t subordinate themselves.  It’s not the Zionists in America, it’s the fundamentalists who send us loads of money, since they see Israel as the fulfillment of Scripture.”

So, now we have a land taken over by immigrants, forcing out the native people.
Hmmm who else has done that?  Could it have been MY ancestors here?
Maybe that’s why I see the amnesia about israel , acting self-righteously as though they have a right to throw the Palistineans around anywhere.
and yes, there is a class difference.  I saw it: the Israelites (hah) were educated, made the desert bloom, etc.....the Arabs who put their hands up to ward off my camera, were laborers and mostly ignorant.
so, it’s not just a religious thing, it’s an educational/income thing.

    Thanks Alice,
Of course it’s an educational/income thing, and when the Israelites (hah?) share the hope of education with the Palestinians, bolstering educational institutions (called schools) for the families of the kids, and when they share their wealth in building those institutions, then they will be able to integrate.
Call it New York City, but I share my life with Black Muslims as easily as I share it with my White Jewish brothers----only because we both have hope.

Wjow, I love New York City and you have a lot of guts to still live there.
I wondered why the 8 different New Yorkers I asked didn’t know where i could buy film around Foley Square.  But when our bus left for Boston Sat after the private anti-war march, attended by 350,000 of my closest friends uncovered by the whore mainstream media.......I understood.
Man, you live in a big town!!!  We spent 1/4 the time getting home just gettin’ outta’ town.
Were you there?  I gave my ‘Impeach Bush’ tennis hat to a wonderful couple who held my Colonial American flag and ‘No More Blood for Oil’ sign.  The husband is a retired NYC cop who told me he was undercover during the Vietnam protests, taking videos of the protesters.  (Just as I was shot in Birmingham, doing the same thing...protesting THAT 58,000 dead Americans mistake.)
    Whoops!!!!
