The war was a lie from its inception. The insurgents are using the"Wait Until One Day After They Leave” strategy in dealing with our occupation. At this point,we may as well pull out of this lose/lose scenario.

I am surprised so many say to pull out but considering the type of column this is I should have expected it.
If the war was justified or not is now a moot point.  I don’t agree with the reasons or the methods but to pull out now will appear as nothing but a weakness on our part.  It will be viewed as a victory for the arab extremist and will only further thier cause, encouraging them to be more daring in future attacks against the US.  For practical and economic reasons pulling out is the easiest course, no matter how appealing it may be to wash our hands of the situation we can not turn our backs (again!!!) on the people of Iraq who want to live a better more democratic life.  There will be a huge backlash against many people who just want a better life and thought we could help them achieve it.

A question for ferniesmistress: How many more people need to die before the people of Iraq can expect to live a better, more democratic life? And is that really why we’re in Iraq, to help them? I’ve gotta hunch that it has more to do with power, money, and oil.

I must also add: there are people more than willing to fight who were born and raised in Iraq. Although I agree that it will look incredibly shallow, I think the United States needs to put Iraq into Iraq’s hands. The can continue to train thier police and their army without actually fighting the war for them.

I also feel that if the US were to pull out of Iraq suddenly, then the terrorist cells would begin to break down. Why continue to fight when your foe has left the battlefield?
