The answer to exploitation in Third World sweatshops - and aboard the Flag of Convenience low wage cargo ships on the high seas - is NOT some kind of autarky scheme where world trade is brought to an end (and in the process, Third World factory workers and merchant sailors) are rendered jobless.
The answer is strikes and worker organization in the sweatshops and on the high seas!
Yet again, we see “environmentalism” being used as an excuse to call for the elimination of workers jobs - which is why I’m convinced that the pro austerity, anti industrial, neo luddite ideology of environmentalism is the greatest danger facing the working class today.
